Vaccine pass wise - I assume you just do a PDF export from the NHS app and then print a few copies off?
Anyone seen a state by state mask wearing status? I fly to Dallas on 18.03 (for the Indycar!) but then travel through New Mexico, Utah, Az before ending up in LA - so lots and lots of variations of rules on the way.
Travelling in CW so good to know that there is some pragmatism up there from the cabin crew...

I did find a website linked through CNN but can’t seem to find it now. We have however just returned from that neck of the woods, can’t speak for TX but NM had a mask mandate that they didn’t really concern themselves too much with, UT and AZ nothing, CA had a mandate with a higher compliance than NM but still not very high. No vaccine mandates in any of the places we visited down that corner of the country. Anyone seen a state by state mask wearing status? I had a printed copy of my vaccine pass because it’s always wise to have printed copies of everything important. To get into places in Seattle we just used the pdf’s on our phones which were barely glanced at.
Just back from Vegas - where the mask mandate was dropped a few days before my arrival.
The airport was the only place to still insist on masks due to Federal rules applying.
When you booked an Uber the app said you had to wear a mask and all the drivers seemed to be wearing masks.
The shopping malls had lots of 'masks required' signage and around 50% of shoppers wearing them.
Only about 10% mask wearing inside casino.
There was a very high mask wearing ratio amongst young 'urban' males loitering about, good to see them taking good public health precautions in the current climate.
No need to ever show any vaccine proof other than for the flights.

Has anybody taken children to the USA? My understanding is that they are exempt from the vaccination requirement but must take a test 3-5 days after arrival... but what type of test should this be? Is taking some NHS LFT test away with us adequate or do we need to find an official US centre to have it done?
We are in the same boat. Florida in April. By my reading children 2-18 not fully vaccinated do need the day 3-5 test. Can anyone confirm or refute this please? Planning on ordering some in the UK and booking a telemedicine appt to supervise.matt3001 said:

I was in TX in November (Houston) and it's as if Covid never existed there. The only mask mandate I had was in Uber. Currently sat in Seattle, a whole different ball game.
Masks mandated everywhere. Proof of vaccination or negative test needed to get in any bar or restaurant.
Definitely worth checking the state rules, but if you have your proof of vaccination handy you'll be fine (nhs app and the card has worked fine)

^^This is what we are doing in a couple of weeks time.
We DID have similar 45min wait tests Pre-booked at a Boots store in a large shopping/restaurant complex the night before the flight, but they cancelled on us with no warning at the weekend.
Hence, we have pulled the taxi pickup forward and gone the airport test route.
I’ll remember to update the experience on here when I get to the departures lounge.

We booked a slot and joined the queue 10mins early, which meant that the actual test slots were to time.
4 mins each and we were back out the door and we had the results by email within 20mins.
We went straight to the check in desk, showed the emails together with our jab confirmation which took another minute and we were done with the extra effort.
We got the same speech on the flight about wearing a mask between drinks and food, that we did on our European trip last year, but the enforcement wasn’t really there and I forgot for good few minutes a couple of times.

Planning on ordering some in the UK and booking a telemedicine appt to supervise. She is not vaccinated when completing the US arrival forms you attest to getting your child tested between days 3 and 5. In reality this is purely trust based. Any test you take is not reported anywhere. I did a LFT on her the first trip which was one of the NHS ones brought from home. Second time we didn't bother, she had no symptoms and we had been taking all the necessary precautions with masks etc...
There is absolutely zero need to pay for a test over and above the free NHS LFTs for this purpose.
ETA: we are heading out to Florida at Easter and we will pack a few NHS LFTs for then and play it by ear as to if we use them or not for her

There may be some 'required' wording buried somewhere in the CDC guidance or a travel form, but there is nowhere to submit them to and no-one checking.
Just be satisfied with using an NHS one for peace of mind if you must, and if you really are a worrier and feel you must have evidence of it then book then £9.99 klarity self test certificate to be used with the NHS one.
There are also free testing options in every city/state here as well.
