Absolutely no need to be discreet using Waze in France. It's set up that you cannot see the pinpoint location of the camera, merely a speed detection zone a km or three long. What does get done though is that drivers will drop a pin saying police hidden here, not always but most, so that tends to show to a greater degree of accuracy where most cameras are. They occasionally drop off but most cameras get noted
To be fair, just use the speed alert to tell you when you're over by whatever degree you decide is appropriate for you.
I am in France at the moment having driven down to Provence. Waze is showing the exact location of fixed cameras - showing them with the Police symbol, rather than a camera symbol.

The drive proved again that the Morgan is not waterproof! Wet knees and feet.

Yes, that is because other Waze users put them there, as I said above. Don't rely 100% on that, they do occasionally drop off.

All this talk of cameras.

I've just completed a 3500 mile road trip taking in Austria, Italy and France.

I managed to set of 3 cameras annoyingly only small margins over the limit. Turns out 94 in a 90 will make the camera flash hehe

I'm led to believe that one benefit of brexit is that speeding fines via cameras are no longer enforceable.

I've only been back a few weeks no mail yet.

Could be worse, playing "Spot the Se7en driver" wasn't very challenging at the Eurotunnel driving to for the Le Mans 24hrs this year. Se7en drivers - people who are dry on their left side/soaking wet on their right side smile

Drive across earlier this week. First time I’ve not seen a single Gendarme over the whole 500 miles. I guess they must be preparing for the weekend or on Tour De France duty!

Off to La Flèche from Caen next week. Not looking forward to fuelling up.

A la here i’m giving Waze a try but don’t really like it here after a trial run. I can’t seem to set a start point other than my current location and it doesn’t give traffic indication en route (red, amber, green) like Maps does but bizarrely does give traffic updates on the roads i’m not using confused

Haven't read the whole thread.
I would suggest a drive down the Opal Coast if you have a child and dog. Head to Sangatte from Calais.
Many beaches to give them both some exercise.
We come back that way as it's an ideal route if you have time to kill, and have a last look at the sea.
yes The D940 is a great coast route to amble back from Boulogne to Calais on.

Huge shopping centre outside Boulougne to stock up on wine and goodies and last day picnic lunch on the beach at Plage Dunes de la Slack.

Leclerc in La Fleche have reduced their fuel price, diesel now 1.83 from a high of 2.05 two weeks ago.
Fuel prices do seem to be dropping.

We set off a few back in May and haven’t had anything through the post so far

I was seeing petrol the same as or marginally cheaper than the UK - I filled up at €2.05 (£1.74)

You can set a different start point and I use it all the time when planning, it's a bit fiddly the first time but you get used to doing it.

I've used Waze almost daily for around three years, and I'm ashamed to admit that I just accepted that you can't set a different starting point

Thankyou for this

Just back from France - diesel is now slightly more than unleaded!
We were using super unleaded @ €2.09/litre which is cheaper than UK - that was at Leclerc supermarkets & the price stayed the same during our 3 week trip. They only sold E10 unleaded which was about €1.98/litre.
The French government reduced the fuel duty by 15 cents/litre with effect from 1st Apr 2022, not like our stingey Government😡

Here you go - https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/

Government site listing all fuel supply points and prices.
Lots of alternatives just of the motorways saving 20 cents per litre or more
