I have spent a lot of time reading through this, and previous years posts. Some great info in here
We are close to pulling the trigger on MSC Virtuosa North Europe 14 day in July. Just after the GCSEs but before the main summer holidays. It seems to be better than the resort type hotel offers having a 15 year old with us. Although I think I might get more use out of the F1 simulator than him!
Happy with drinks packages, the shows and such like.
I was wondering about formal dress events? I suspect "we" will want to attend one of these and just how formal is it. Will a jacket and jeans suffice or is it more of a tuxedo event?
Any other good to know points greatly appreciated.

It’s our third time on the ship so we know it well. We adore Celebrity great service great food and no kids. We have another booked on Celebrity Millennium in Jan next year. Firstly, i think you'll love it. We did Virtuosa in Dec and loved it.We are close to pulling the trigger on MSC Virtuosa North Europe 14 day in July. Secondly, get the Games Pass (or more than one!) if you think you're going to use the arcade for stuff like F1 and 10 pin bowling. Its £70 IIRC and you get £140 of credit.
"Dress to Impress" night - you'd get away with anything really. Most people will dress up a bit at least. You'd definitely be fine with a jeans and jacket. To be honest, we did the full gear last time - tux, dinner dress respectively. We wont next time. I'll do dark / black jeans, smart shoes, shirt. Which is my usual evening attire on other nights. You can dress up more if you like, but its not mandatory.
Its worth doing the main dining room that night, as its an elevated menu over normal. I'd also recommend the speciality restaurant package. All four are absolutely superb and its a bargain at just over £100 each for all four. I'd to the MDR the remaining evenings, and in fact MDR for breakfast and lunch whenever possible. Its busy but the buffet can be carnage at peak times.

Not sailed with MSC for a long time but a close friend of mine is one of their key accounts in the UK (books thousands of passengers a year with them). She seems to think they’re leagues above how they used to be and happily recommends them when appropriate. If she got it wrong it’s her that has to deal with it!
Sure she could guide you through the questions if needs be, just drop me an email if that’s helpful.

We went on Virtuosa last September and have booked again for October - it seems to get a bit of bad press here and there but we loved it.We are close to pulling the trigger on MSC Virtuosa North Europe 14 day in July. The drinks package is well worth it for us even though my better half doesn't participate, she had loads of mocktails/coffees etc.
Dress code for me was smart jeans and shirt most nights, on the dressy nights I wore chinos, shirt and jacket, wifey wore dresses most nights, some dressed up full monty a lot didn't.
The 4 speciality restaurant package is very good and we found the food in the main dining rooms good. You can log into the big screens dotted around the boat to see the menus daily.
The shows are quite good and not very long which suited us. they do get booked quickly so if you fancy them use the big screens to access and book (you use your room card to log in).
All in all we really enjoyed it hence booking again.

on the whole we liked the Virtuosa: The 'Cirque de Soleil' shows were (in our opinion) both amazing and very entertaining; the food was good; the main 'thoroughfare was quite a sight; when we went the shop didn't feel crowded (however I understand it was not at full capacity so that's not a true reflection). What we didn't like is that a lot of the seats seemed to be quite hard (to the point of being uncomfortable) and mainly in bar areas... would still go again thoughThe drinks package is well worth it for us even though my better half doesn't participate, she had loads of mocktails/coffees etc.

Currently cruising on the Ritz Carlton yacht Evrima. Service is excellent and with only 280 guests or so very quiet.
Entry suites are 300sqft which from what I have seen is decent for a boat cabin.

I’m on Seabourn Quest. We were moored just behind you in Barbados on Sunday.
Ha small world. Yes I remember seeing the quest behind us. Looked to be a similar size compared to the 2 bigger ones opposite.Do not try it right now. I was on the NYE cruise and it was awful. They do not have enough staff to open separate restaurants and two of the seven nights we couldn’t get food. We met with the captain three times and nothing was changed. Over 30 children under ten were allowed at all venues at all times without parents and therefore taking all available seating. Overall experience was disastrous. I have over 200 days on Seabourn and will take Seabourn all day every day.
