This thread has made me regret not doing it. I land in Houston at 6pm local time (midnight UK time) and then have to be back at the airport for midday the next day to get back to London.
Why does this sort of st still exist in business? What possible need is there for any human to be the other side of the world for one day unless they’re incredibly important (and if they were they’d be first class or on a company jet). The mind boggles when I see this stuff. I’m going to Colorado for 4 days and it’s on the cusp of me making an excuse not to as it seems pointless. Flights are cheaper and you get a few days to explore and have fun.
SKO?
ps I did once do San Jose for dinner, lovely meal but a real ball ache

Which airlines still operate chauffeur service to and from the airport?
Emirates do but I think most others don't - it's a great touch, one less thing to think about and a nice way to start a holiday. (Obviously priced in but not a price differentiator.)

I once booked two 1st class return tickets LHR - LAX using Avios points and an AMEX companion voucher for a holiday in Palm Springs.
Me and my other half rock up to the Concorde Lounge at T5 and are turned away because I’d booked using Avios. He’s mortified by the rejection, we had to make do in the BC lounge. He still reminds me of the humiliation years later.
That day I learned to check what benefits come with every specific flight rather than assume.

I've only used it once and it's cool to have done so but not the be all and end all certainly.
I half get it and half don't that the companion voucher holder wasn't allowed in...
Reminds me of a story...
Travelling back from Bahrain a few years ago, and at the time, there was a second security check just before boarding.
We were in the queue for this, which was fairly long, but it is what it is, we expected it.
We were minding our own business, when a man and a woman started strolling past us!
I'm not a fan of queue jumpers and I'll always call them out.
"Excuse me" I say, "the back of the queue is down there" and I pointed to the back of the queue.
They happened to be American
The man said to me "but we're in business."
I was in a position to respond "Well I'm in First, there's one queue, now get to the back."
That told them. Council fkers .

Yeah, that was an error by the desk agent.Me and my other half rock up to the Concorde Lounge at T5 and are turned away because I’d booked using Avios. He’s mortified by the rejection, we had to make do in the BC lounge. He still reminds me of the humiliation years later.
In F you get CCR room access, regardless of cash, avios, companion voucher, or paid upgrade.

Such a same they needlessly did that.

Maybe it was the companion voucher that prevented entry rather than the Avios.
I’ve been in there on a companion voucher. The fare code would be the same so not sure they’d even know although happy to be corrected on that.Griffith4ever said:

Depends on which card you have.

No - it's not Amex's own - it's the BA Amex airmiles card. Apparently everyone is leaving in droves due to this. A fee paying card is best apparently - perhaps to the one you mention. I put all my Amazon through mine, personal and business, so it adds up fast. This isn’t the case with the black card.

Amex companion vouchers are economy only now. I have one to use by Jun 30t. Gonna switch to a different airmiles card - what bloody use is a free economy seat with BA? If I fly eco it'll be with an economy airline.
None at all. As above they want everyone to have the “premium plus” card with the fee. It’s always been better for avios accrual and the threshold for the companion voucher so I’ve always had that one anyway.Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
