I keep on hearing from friends who have been on a last minute all inclusive holidayto Egypt or similar for £350, they swear buy these deals but are they really any good?

My GF could really do with a 'monging in the sun' holiday but I don't want to bring her to a ropey flea pit!

We did a last minute AI to Egypt for just over £500 each, but it was at the start of the summer holidays which may have made it a bit more expensive. We stayed at the Sharks Bay Hilton, on the new side and it was absolutely fabulous. 5 star hotel absolutely spotless, very friendly staff that couldn't do enough for you. Largest pool in Sharm, but no deeper than 1.2m. Food was fine a decent selection every night, but I was craving a bacon sandwich by the end of it, beef bacon doesn't hit the spot!

I wouldn't take teenagers as I think they would get bored, but perfect for just relaxing and not doing much.

How inclusive was the all inclusive?

I've seen some places where it is only the buffet which is covered and also no drinks, neither of which I like the sound of!

Pretty much everything was included apart from branded drinks, at that particular hotel there was a choice of two main restaurants, (I think it was a question of eating on the old or the new side, probably served the same menu.) a pizza parlour, a beach bar that did hot dogs and paninis during the day, a pool bar that did hot dogs, burgers & chips etc. Plus you could get Rolls, fruit and crisps from most of the bars during the day.

There was an AI cocktail menu which I think we drank our way through as the white wine left a lot to be desired smile Fresh bottles of water were left in your hotel room every day. The AI drinking lasted up to 2am, which was unusual, other places we have been it has been up to 11pm.

Somewhere that doesn't include drinks isn't all inclusive, sounds more like Full Board ?

Some hotels will stop free drinks service at 11pm, midnight etc, some will have it 24 hours.

Some hotels will also have a special a la carte style restaurant which isn't included in the AI and they'll charge you, but of course you don't have to use it........

Off to Sharm on Monday with a late booking AI came in at £430 for 10 days in a 4* place

It seems to be the same as any other AI we have been on with the only exclusion being the free bar stops at midnight.

Eta that we booked it 5 weeks ago so not sure if you could get cheaper if you held out till the week before you want to go.

We did Egypt AI a couple of years back. Sharm El Sheikh. £500 each. Lovely hotel, loads of food, but everyone got a dicky stomach at some point, even me who is never ill, the AI beer was OK but the spirits were dire like local spirits are in Muslim countries, and we found the resort a bit isolated. Plus it was a building site outside of the hotel complexes. We also found Naama Bay Lonsdale central. Oh, and some chump has put the airport within spitting distance of the hotels...

It was a nice holiday, but we would never go back.

My recommendation, Turkey.

We’re currently at Louis Breeze Paphos at £2800 all inc and the quality is amazing with branded spirits, good food, snacks and even branded soft drinks.
I’ve spent £200 in a week it’s normally that a day!

(Yes thread resurrection time)

Have you tried Turkey? They have I believe the most all inclusive 5 star hotels in the world? I’ve been numerous times and never fail to disappoint.

Turkey is a st hole. It might be OK if you never plan on leaving the hotel complex, but I would never go back.

Utterly stupid comment. Turkey has some lovely places, as well as some st holes, just like most places.

I have no idea what you’re on about?!?!? Did one of the locals sleep with your Mrs there?

Turkey and Tunisia are two places I would never return. They are both countries ruined by a portion of the people, culture and politics.

There are plenty of better options that won't break the bank. I'm miffed why anyone would go given the choice.

Funnily enough I met a nice Scottish girl in Turkey.

What an odd thing to say (the second part). Turkey is a huge country with massive variety in its way of life, people, geography, everything. We recently came back from Gocek, near Dalaman (stayed AI at Rixos Premium). It was lovely. The people (and yes, we did leave the hotel grounds) were charming, no mention of politics! Food was great, weather superb - fully recommended.

Outside of the huge tourist resorts like Marmaris, I've alway found Turkey quite nice. Have done Kuşadası quite a few times.

It was a while ago now but we had a lovely time in Kalkan. I'd be upset if it's turned into a st hole.

How safe are turkey and Egypt these days?

We are looking for a good all inclusive and keep dismissing these places because of our perceptions of the political climate.

After reading the replies, it’s easy to see whats one persons st hole, is another persons paradise.

You’re not going to get a definitive answer of such a small pool of people such as PH. Decide on a location, then spend time on Trip Adviser.
