I had a remote boot fob fitted to my old chim, Carl Baker did it. Thought about the same for the tuscan or even fitting a button somewhere in the cabin.

Not too sure that anybody will supply that sort of info to a member that has been here 4 months with only 17 posts. Have you tried talking to your local garage/original supplier?

Having it done at Hexham when it goes in for the annual service this Saturday, picking it up the following Saturday. I shoudn't think it will be too expensive and I imagine any garage would be able to do it. Had it done when I had a Chimaera as the boot wouldn't open without the ignition on.

Sounds like you need a 2p piece - well known fix for tuscan boot switch

Mine is doing the same all of a sudden. What is the cause of the solenoid not working...is it just that the badge is no longer reaching the button and the 2p acts as a shim to push it in further?

Most of the intermittant , not opening probs seem to stem from the button behind the badge. Scoosh it with contact cleaner, but pull back the rubber cover first. The 2p just helps it make contact.
If still causing probs, there is an inline plug half way down the wiring, you get to it through the large grommet behind the badge. Split it there and short it out , this will let you know if it is a switch problem or a solenoid problem.
