4th September will be the day.

The day Mrs V., who is a primary school teacher, will be hiding her new year register/form list from me, as I fight to see it to see what the kids are called.

And then I'll make judgement on the parents...

Watching a C4 programme on Friday which was a behind the scenes look at those awful Spanish resort holiday places that we Brits seem to love, there was a family on there with a couple of daughters, one of which was called Krystal, which is bad enough, however this one was pronounced Chris-tal.

All I could think of whenever I heard the name was an American stripper, the poor girl was only about 8.

She can always change her name by deed poll. You don't have to turn out like your parents...

If I did Id be a tea-total, non-smoking heavily violent bd like my dad was.

Thankfully none of the above apply to me (apart from the smoking) tongue out

I'm confused - did your dad drink no tea or a lot of tea?

My colleague has a customer with the surname Spackman, any mention of his name makes me have a little chuckle to myself.

I noticed there was a female athlete competing a couple of days ago at the world champs whose name was Sparkle McKnight. I think she was from one of the Caribbean nations.

I'm just guessing here, but she was probably christened Francesca, and decided to use Chesca instead, because her school friends called her that, maybe her well meaning parents started to do so, not meaning for it to be permanent, just a family name, like Mikey for Michael.
I have relatives with a beautiful 9 y.o. named Francesca, that they sometimes call Ches, Chessie, or even Chester.
Not my place to say anything, but it mildly ticks me off, as I fondly imagine she was named after me.
I have some good friends with a daughter named Maria, nice name, suits her, goes well with her surname, but when she was 17 or 18, she decided that from then on, she would be just Ria, she texted and emailed all her contacts to say that henceforth she was to be known as Ria ******.
When she sends birthday or Christmas cards, they're signed, "love from Ria."

Bit naff. Real classy folk use two xs, Jaxxon is the cooler spelling.
