For those saying the Smok kit is junk, I've been using two TF-V8 tanks for nearly 2 years now had next to no issues at all. In fact the Aspire Cleito 120 tanks I found leaked more often and burned more coils than the Smok tanks ever did.

The only problem I have with them is the rate they consume liquid, I'll easily use 100-150ml a week depending on which coil is in. Also, I get between 2-3 weeks out of a coil which I don't think is bad going given the consumption rate.

I also use the Smok GX2/4 mod which is still going strong despite dropping it numerous times.

I appreciate there's better kit out there, but it's a balance of finding what works for you. I like the Smok tanks because there wasn't much out there to match them for capacity (7ml I think), and I can't be arsed filling a tank every 5 mins. That was the biggest selling point for me. I just want kit that works with the minimum of hassle.

In saying that, I'm always on the look out for something new and shiny to add to the collection!!

On a different tack, does anybody know of a decent DIY recipe for Ben Jonson Cream? I've been mixing my own liquid for about 18 months and whilst I've found a few flavours I like they're mostly fruit based (Red Astaire and Pinkman). I refuse to cough up £10 for a 30ml bottle for pre-made stuff, and all my attempts so far have proved to be literally un-vapable!
I know taste is a subjective thing but even just a base to start from would be a great help!

Not sure about flavours but is this any help, watch the vid for instructions

For the love of god do not buy it. I hate mine. The battery compartment flap at the bottom is a stupid design. The slightest knock when you put it down on a surface and the batteries pop out flying everywhere. The lip which holds it in isn't designed big enough.

Which is a shame, because apart from that its brilliant.
Which version did you get? The earlier ones had a few problems, battery doors opening & no reverse polarity protection, I think some fired at 220w if the batteries were in the wrong way! There’s another issue with the early ones but can’t remeber, might be the TCR? I’ve got the v1.5 battery door has come open a couple times but that’s more down to the case I was using.

I like it but as said there’s probably much better kit available now.

I'm not sure actually....but it does have reverse polarity protection as I've tested that myself biggrin

I now have a piece of black electrical tape that I use on the bottom to stop the lid popping off.

Sorry, just to clarify all the other juice I make is perfectly fine, but my efforts to reproduce Cream have ended in lots of stuff being chucked out as it's bloody awful.

I have looked at the bottle shots before but I'm wary of buying it then not liking it and having to bin 500ml. On the other hand I do have about 25 30ml flavour concentrates in the cupboard that I'm never going to try again, so £9.99 each on a few bottle shots is probably worth a punt!

These are the versions below, to check you have to push the fire button and close the battery door then it should say v1.2 v1.3 or v1.5

Tbh I don’t think the battery door issue was ever fully resolved.

Version 1 - Can't lock with buttons, no reverse battery protection, manual TCR doesn't work, the firmware version is 1.2 (Hold fire button when closing battery door and chipset and firmware version is displayed)

Version 2 - CAN lock with three clicks, YES reverse battery protection, NO manual TCR, Firmware version is 1.3

Version 3 - Can Lock, Yes reverse batt protection, YES manual TCR works, Firmware version is 1.5

You could make up smaller batches. Get some empty bottles as well as flavours and make 5 X 100ml or 10 X 50ml, you don't have to make up 500ml.

It's time to replace this;

The battery cover keeps falling off as the magnets are bksed, I doubt the tank will ever be able to be removed from the battery, the thread on the tank is also bksed so it keeps undoing itself in my pocket and filling said pocket full of juice. It's been great for the best part of 4 years.

I don't want anything bigger in terms of battery/mod and it seems you can only buy tiny tanks now.

Is there a place to buy the same set up but brand new? Abroad? Import?

I use a GX2/4, too! Its been the best mod I've ever had and they appear to have sorted out the finish issues they had on previous mods. I use it with a Baby Beast (came with it), a TFV8 and TFV12. Annoyingly, I had a duff T6 coil for the TFV12 last week but that ended a seriously long run of no issues.

Started vaping last week and picked up a Neon 70w Mod and Smok Helmet tank for £20 on offer, but it hasn't taken me long to upgrade and I've now got an iJoy Genie with a cleito tank and it's so much nicer, my go to flavours at the moment are drip dab with blue slush cbd concentrate, or Illusions 'The Prophet' with pink lemonade cbd concentrate. Both of the CBD liquids are a lot higher mg than you can get above the counter and sort my insomnia nicely wink

I hated vaping a month ago and now I'm here because I'm sick of cigarettes and the smell hehe

Decided to try a new tank, currently using the massive UWELL Crown tank which is leak proof and does the job but flavour consistency is a bit hit and miss.

Aspire Cleito 120 seems to get good reviews and I'm loving the large atomiser so ordered that. Really disappointed though, perhaps it's just my luck with bad batch.
It leaked consistently no matter what I tried. Went through 2 atomisers that came with the kit and also the spare one I've bought. Gutted, trying for a refund but not sure if that is possible considering the condition.

Not much choice out there with larger atomisers, thinking of the Smok TFV12 Prince tank but really prefer one where the air flow adjustment is at the top and the glass is sealed at the ends. UD Athlon 22 Mini seems to fit the bill, anyone tried this?

Well, after a few months of vaping I've chucked it in. I'm glad it helped me stop smoking. I'm also glad to be stopping vaping.

There are certain things I disliked intensely about it.

The standard of equipment sold - shoddy junk at all price levels with a 30-50% chance of it being binnable before you even got going.

Vaping destroyed my vocal dexterity. Two decades of unfiltered smoking left my multiple octaves untouched and crystal clear. A few months of vaping reduced it to one octave, and a semi ruined one at that. I'm hoping that'll recover.

The sneaking feeling that all is not as safe as it seems. I know they like to roll out the food grade stuff, but that's for eating, not inhaling. I also have little faith in the manufacturers of equipment doing anything about contamination or impurities in what they sell.

The only reason I quit smoking was to avoid something respiratory. I don't care about anything else. With vaping my respiration has felt worse at times despite experimenting with various different angles. I'm far from a heavy user, perhaps 10ml per week.

In summary, it did the job. I wish I'd thrown it in much sooner. I do not think it's any type of magic bullet. If my kiddie started up on it I wouldn't be best pleased.

Everyone's mmv, I guess & mine does, so far. I would doubt very much there would ever be a respiratory magic bullet, but aside from that, I can't say I've had any of your issues, if anything better than the alternative in many ways. Not perfect, I'm well aware of that, but a definite improvement in most ways & very few issues or moments of weakness.

I can't say I care too much for some of the community, culture whatever around vaping (though not in a particularly dismissive way, just not that interested in the whole mod thing), I just wanted to get away from the alternative. I've done that without issue so far & happy that I have.

Any recommendations on juice suppliers these days? Previously bought 100 of the 30ml bottles of heisenberg at the time the bottle reduction legislation was about to go through and it’s kept me going for two years but finally stocks have run dry so wondered who the go to supplier was these days?

Vampire Vape are still about, think they do shortfills now as well. There is loads of juice hitting the market but a lot of it is using the same base concentrate so taste the same

A bit of help if anyone can...

I'm going to try doing this vape thing (again, or properly this time). I have a thing, I think it's an iStick or something and an Aspire tank but it's quite long/tall and it's always leaked which was one of the reasons I couldn't be arsed with it.

Anyway now I see people with much shorter fatter battery things and tanks, and I'm wondering if there is something I can buy to get a bigger and shorter tank and end bit which ideally won't leak. Also if anyone can suggest a good place online to buy minty liquid, because I'll be fked if I'm fannying about going to a special shop every week.

TIA

All new tanks in the UK are restricted to 2ml only but you can bypass this by buying from China - sadly no recommendations from me as I'm not up to speed with modern tanks/batteries frown

Try LiQuid for minty liquids, only a quid a bottle.
