Lastly a few more pics. Headed down to Jermyn Street during lunch to check out EG, CJ and Foster&Sons.

Was given a surprising tour of the workshop upstairs at Foster&Sons. It was a gem but unfortunately no pics but only this one.

I tried on a pair of CJ Handgrade Balfour

and an EG Dover

and lastly over to Gaziono&Gerling

It has been a good weekend smile

Nothing wrong with secondhand hardly worn, saves a fortune.
They might be Eric's. Did he die about 1995?

So here they are. First impressions, decent quality. Not quite Cheaney but not that far off. They seem the real deal (as per the website). Proper gw sole. Doesn't say where made however. Supplied in proper jw box complete with shoe bags. The bags are relatively cheap feeling tbh, certainly when compared to those supplied by Cheaney or Charles Tyrwhitt.

(Apologies if images rotated. Blame the uploader).

Relative size to other shoes. The plain brogues are 8.5. The two tones are 9. The JW are 8.5

Socks for PH. smile

I'll think about them. I'm around a 9. My left foot is a bit bigger than the right. 9s were too big. 8.5 about spot on for the left, right side is borderline. Jw site actually suggests downsizing by half.
Welcome to the club. They are UK made in Northampton. The Italian made ones are the more outrageous ones generally. Make sure you get a pair of the proper shoe trees for them.

Thanks for the confirmation Craig. Glad they are the 'proper' ones. smile

Edit: £80 for the shoe trees on the website. eek

Thanks Kelv_w for posting such interesting pics. Was the show generally for trade buyers or wealthy clients?

Most welcomed. It's open to the public although some of us had early access to the show.
Not all shoes are expensive, some were reasonably priced like Skolyx, Carlos Santos, Justin Fitzpatrick shoes are good quality shoes. I am considering a pair of Carlos Santos for my daily beater.

Lets lower the tone a bit with my fresh treads....

For trainers now I will only buy Air Force 1s as the arch support is really good and they hold thier shape. I've found all other trainers I've tried go floppy and lose their shape eventually.

Thanks for the post kelv, may I ask what a reasonably priced Carlos Santos would cost ?

It's around £250 onwards. Not bad for a goodyear welted shoe

Hello summer! biggrin

Barker

I know we've discussed the cheapo Barker range, but I reckon these are the real deal.

Check the banner on the Moccasin section: http://www.barker-shoes.co.uk/shop/collections/moc...

Looks to be the same pair of shoes.

I know what you mean ..... I could be walking in a dead mans pair !!!!!
Funny story, my wife's Grandmother bought a pair of boxed / unworn slippers from a local charity shop.

She opened the box an inside was a delivery note addressed to someone, in the paper that evening was the death notice for the same woman! Died about 5 days before

We couldn't believe how quickly her kids had cleaned out her house!

Just came back from a trip to Northants to visit the shoe factories.

Pleased with my unlined suede summer loafers from Gaziano & Girling...

And so you should be, they are very, very nice.

But now, as is customary, we need to talk about your carpet. What on earth is going on? Do you live in the castle of a fairy princess?

Interesting that you find the flooring to be the detail most worthy of scrutiny in that picture. Freelitres will be along shortly to enlighten you.
