Thanks mate. so that's £13 for less effort than a £1.50 wax 'bull'. Only the French could charge you for your own labour reduction!

Use the same bulling method for the mirror gloss. It just gives it the extra shine with slightly less effort. However it is suggested that you do your usual wax/cream polish first as the mirror wax has no nutrients. I find I get a slightly sharper shine with the mirror gloss.

So did I do the polishing for free? Hmmm... could be anybody's guess haha..
I wandered into Cheaney on Jermyn St. this afternoon, showing a youngun the ropes as it were in selecting his first pair of formal shoes for his attendance at a wedding in a couple of months time. He will be accompanying one of the bride's maids, and has been 'instructed' to look his very best. smile
Cheaney staff do a very nice job of achieving a mirror shine on the toe/toe cap of their display shoes, and show a remarkable dedication to the process. It seems there is always at least one of them engaged in polishing on every occasion that I've visited.

I asked the chap today what he used, as he was in mid buff mode, and he said the he/they preferred their own brand coloured wax polish for black shoes, and the clear for most brown or tan shoes where an exact colour match wasn't available.

I have to say that I have found that a nylon stocking over a rolled up heavy wool sock makes an ideal final buffer for achieving the best shine.

Now I am wondering if the same article would provide a superior buffing to the old TVR as well...scratchchin

My Wife got all tetchy when she realised I have my own pair of stockings. I explained that they are for polishing my shoes, but she didn't believe me.

She made me take them off.

My colleague's pair of shoes was in tatters so I offered to do it up for him. It was quite in a state when he brought it over. It should be in the bin really.
Some cream polish to minimise the scuffings and wax polish to bring out the shine. Decided to do a light mirror shine on the toe cap but didn't want to over egg it. Wasn't quite sure if he want it that shiny and I didnt want to spend too much time on it.
Amazing turn-around.
What products do you use please ?

If you were really a friend you'd suggest he stands closer to the urinal in future.

With feet that big, that's a tough ask.

Has he got big frizzy hair and works for a bloke called Krusty?

A little quiet lately.

Happened to come across these videos online. Would be handy for anyone wanting to shine their shoes.

I dropped by Crockett & Jones today to pick up the latest catalogue. Some really nice shoes will be coming out this new season, particularly the Gower Double monks. May consider a pair.

They've even updated the paperbag with printed insides. Very nice touch.

As the thread has been quiet for so long and I have neither a fairydust sofa nor pub carpets to amuse you all, I'll show a webshot of my recent purchase.

Interestingly mine have Barker heels rather than the Edward Meeks ones in the photos.

Superbly comfortable.

I recently bought these shoes, which I'm reasonably happy with.

Can anyone recommend a matching belt for them please, I have been struggling finding the right shade!

Any smooth brown/tan belt will do - exact matches look a bit over the top to me.

^Nice. I'm actually wearing the tan suede versions of those Barker William loafers today.

I don't see Edward Meek heels in the pics?

Certainly the soles/heels look the same as the pics on the Barker website:

They do now, but didn't when I bought them.

Interesting that Barker's website shows Meeks heels.
I'll take a picture.

I notice the profile view shows a split heel whereas the underside view shows a continuous rubber heel.

The ones I'm currently wearing are split.
