How much money do you spend on a night out?

Easy, £15-£20 to get into most clubs or bars in London, £10-£15 for a drink so buying a round for mates will cost £30 minimum and if you are celebrating or just get silly and start ordering bottles of spirits or bubbly they are £100 going up into the hundreds.
Even a quite meal out with the missus can cost £100 for some decent food and wine.
Is it a rip off? Definitely but it's just an inevitable fact of living in a big city, especially London and I find the fact that in this day and age of technology\interweb\constant information flow that some people on this thread seem genuinely surprised at just how expensive London can be.
This is just painting an absurd picture of central London life. This is quite simply down to choice - you want to spend £100 on dinner easy, you want to spend £20 on dinner, also easy. You want to drink in hotel bars and flash places in Mayfair then £20 drinks it is. You want a £3.50 pint with your mates? no problem, 100's of central London pubs will happily serve you. Oh I agree but my post was more in response to those who seemed shocked that it was even possible to spend more than £20 on a night out. As stated in my post you can have a "cheap" night in London although cheap is relative as it'll still probably cost you £40 (this seems to the minimum I can get away with, even on a so called cheap night) or you can literally spend thousands. I'm just startled that some people seem quite blinkered to that fact. Even when I was a poor lowly student drinking £1 pints, I was very much aware that some people spent a huge amount of money and probably a large percentage of their income on going out.1. 2. Normal night out; £150
3. Drinking out in posh places; £450
I mainly go with option 1. Option 2 is every once on a while. Option 3 is a rarity and only happens on special occasions. Considering I live London I don't consider that to be excessive.
However spending 10k on a bottle of fiz seems a waste of money no matter what your earnings are.

Bizzare. I don't see what is so unbeliveable about cost of drinking in London? 3-4 drinks an hour at 5 quid, then 7-8 quid for shorts later plus taxi home by 12, thats 100 straight-away just drinking in crappy bars like Fine-line/All-bar-one. Plus if you are not savvy you can get stiched by the usual suspects when doing rounds. Annoying.

Tip - if there are 'usual suspects' who just freeload drinks and avoid buying rounds... they're not your mates and you shouldn't be out drinking with them in the first place.DJRC said:

It's a pretty pointless argument because there are nights out and there are nights out - having six pints of cooking lager (good luck with the £3 pint) and a kebab on Clapham High Street isn't going to hit you like ending up in some member's club or wherever in town. As for the tube - presumably you're staying out clubbing (on your £60 budget) until it starts running again? My admittedly limited experience of Switzerland suggests that it would be easier to find good nightlife on Sark though.

What if you don't drink pints? What if you are also buying rounds for a couple of mates? Also £20 for a meal is fine if you are going to Nando's or your local indian\kebab house\pizza express, anything better than that especially in Central London will cost at least twice that. I'm not saying I go and spend hundreds of pounds on nights out EVERY week (those days are long behind me
) and local nights can off course be a lot cheaper but even now on the occasional times we do go out into town, either with the OH or mates, I am surprised\happy if I have spent less than 3 figures.DJRC said:

Just because you haven't done it does not mean its not possible. I've done it many times without trying. I think you are expecting most people to go home by 11pm.... If you are out until 5-6am at a club with drinks costing £5-6 each then add several hours of that onto your previous costs....
Whilst I cannot, several of my friends can put away 15-20 pints on a long drinking session.
£100+ is a doddle. Nothing to be happy about, but still a doddle.

A decent night out with mates nowadays is 4 of us buying a round each, so £15-£20 each depending on the drinks (beer/wine usually). Walk into town and back. Big nights out have lost their appeal for me (as lie-ins are a thing of the past).
A night out for dinner with the OH will be up to £200 or so for the two of us, but with a toddler around they are few and far between.

This is fairly ridiculous. Home by 11pm and you've consumed 6 pints, 4 G&Ts, some bar snacks, a starter, main course, 2 side dishes and got 2 cabs. One of those cabs is £15 so it's walkable. The other at £45 is acceptable, but if it's just 3-4 hours at the pub why have you travelled so far?A person in this situation is fat and lazy. Again this thread shows that some peoples' idea of a down the pub night out is someone elses idea of quite a special occasion.
My 3-4 hours at the pub is 4 pints and a bit of pub grub all for £25 and walk it off in 30 minutes to get home.
