I thought I'd test the theory by going to the pub alone this evening, I've done a tenner in 15 minutes so far.
Ye Olde Axe doesn't count as 'a pub' though.

This is fairly ridiculous. Home by 11pm and you've consumed 6 pints, 4 G&Ts, some bar snacks, a starter, main course, 2 side dishes and got 2 cabs. One of those cabs is £15 so it's walkable. The other at £45 is acceptable, but if it's just 3-4 hours at the pub why have you travelled so far?
This! Tonker, sorry, but your example was ridiculous.

If you're staying in Alan Partridge's home, then you should really be ordering 'Ladyboys' instead of Chardonnay...

1 hour £25... And it's a school night... That's on JDs only.

No dinner yet, may order some shortly and hit another bar later.

All in the name of research of course.

Ridiculous for who? A married guy with kids having to get home before 11pm maybe. But I think I'm fairly average, young-ish guy, working in canrary wharf, and with most of my mates 3-4 beers and hour and then shorts later on is a relatively normal night without even going to a late night bar.

I think maybe some people consider Hampstead or Watford as 'London'? whereas I would consider 'London' to be the City/CW and Central London area, I can't remember finding a bar doing 3 quid drinks, and if there was a pub doing 3 quid drinks who the fk would want to go to it and risk getting stabbed ..

My local sells glasses of decent wine at 9.50. Its not even particularly up market.

People still lap it up.

I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm not even talking about price when I say that is a boat load of food and drink inside 4 - 5 hours. I think a lot of people would struggle to do that and still find the time to talk to their friends! Your last phrase, is that aimed at me/us?

Ok well I've just paid my tab here - £62.40 in just under 2 hours and leaving sober without buying food and only buying 1 drink for someone else, a glass of house white for a bird.

How you lot manage to have a night out on under a £100 I have no idea. Either you sip shandy, don't drink, or ponce.

Manchester - wetherspoons - pints - £1.99. This explains some of the difference between my experience and a lot of you guys.

I don't understand how you manage to spend so much. Take Dirty Dicks, £4 something for a lager. 6 pints is roughly £30, how do you spend the extra?
