A japanese tramp. In either real-life or in a film.
I've seen a few (in Japan), they seem quite contented for tramps, very neat cardboard box sleeping rooms (about the same size as the capsule hotels!) they even put their shoes outside to keep the usual tradition of no shoes in the house. Discarded food from convenience stores keep them quite well fed too. They could still do with a shower and a shave though.

When I was little, we found a baby wood pigeon that had fallen out of the nest.
My dad helped us to raise it, but then made us release it when it was adult.
Pigeon is delicious. My dad helped us to raise it, but then made us release it when it was adult.
Also, why would he think that an animal raised in captivity would have the necessary skills to get by in the big bad world? It probably died the next day.
Sorry.
I think the truth is important though.

ETA - birds tend to operate on instinct rather than on learned behaviours.
It lived - we saw it around.
