Jean Paul Gaultier for me. Smells amazing and people compliment it too. Excellent.
This reminds me, I need to buy more.

Knize Ten, or Trumper's Spanish leather.

Smells like electric heater in tool shed.

Someone just gave me a present of Dior Eau Sauvage. It is OK, although quite citrussy.

My current collection:

- Issey Miyake Sport on a weekend
- Clinique Happy for work
- Prada Amber Pour Homme for occasions and nights out

The standard YSL Pour Homme is a cracker too. Must pick some more of that up soon.

Poundland pour homme!

I swim every morning before work, so like to have something to spray over me after showering, to make sure there's no hidden smell of chlorine. Real aftershave would cost too much so I've taken to buying some Umbro cack from Poundland. The laugh is, a few women at work have commented on how nice I smell. They still think I'm ugly, but nice smelling ugly.

So there you have it. Poundland, for the man who doesn't have to try too hard, because he hasn't got a dog's chance anyway.

It contains a higher percentage of (quality) fragrance oils compared with cheaper stuff which in turn usually lasts much longer and you use less of it - so you invest initially but in the long run it's probably 4 bottles-worth of normal aftershave.

I agree, you don't need much and it lasts for ages. Compare and contrast Tom Ford's Vetiver, which wears off before you leave the house.

Sometimes the smell is only part of it, I still enjoy the simply things like the cap for my Chanel Bleu always aligning itself properly using a magnet - probably not worth paying more for but it's still a nice touch.

One that I like that nobody else seems to - Givenchy Pi - when I first started wearing it I struggled to find it and it was quite expensive, now it's about £15 a bottle in Boots. Smells like marzipan, my wife hates it.

Tom Ford Black Orchid is my current favourite. Expensive but a tiny squirt lasts for days. Even in London, so hard to get hold of. I think Harrodsburg do an exclusive thing that you may actually mix your own Tom Ford to suit.

I bought my husband the 30ml Aventus (£85) for Christmas in 2010 and it lasted until this summer, and that was wearing it pretty much every weekend.

We just recently had a stay in London and he bought the 75ml (£152) from Harrods, and should last about 4 years, so works out pretty reasonable.

I can't believe so many sane, rational petrolheads admit to using this overpriced poofter juice....

Underarm anti-perspirant is essential; anything else is for poofs.

I knew there was 'something' about you... However I couldn't define exactly 'what'...

Now I know...

I'm a big fan of Escentric molecules escentric 01 and Molecule 02. They are both very subtle. If I'm going 'classic' I go for something by Acqua Di Parma
