Hi, I'm new here and a little shy. I'm really happy to have found you as I've been looking for a correctional therapist for some time. it's really hard to find somewhere to come out of the proverbial tea closet. I feel I hope I'm not mistaken but as you're all close friends and experts that I might be able to discuss my problem that has blighted my marriage, career, finances and as a result my health and self confidence.
I need to be able to trust you.
If I took photos they will probably shock you. I will be embarrassed to show you but I have to get this problem off my chest.
The spoon moderator will likely ban me from talking any further.
I think as part of my healing process I need to discuss my problem with someone. I think collectively you might be able to offer guidance.
My 'tlery dealer thinks I'm a complete deviant. I've gone against his investment advice and pursued my own unique path in this spoon world.

Where do you live? Have you tried Spooners' Anonymous. There should be a meeting near you.

At your first meet, sidle up to the greeter, wink at him, using your right eye and say, "I'm a friend of Krupp(b)". They'll look after you.

Thanks that's a good tip. I'll bring a sample of my 'deviance'. This was the item that set me on my rocky path.
Should I show it here?

I was told 12 years ago when I bought this at the Dudley Fine Art Fair that it was a Romanov 34, one of 7 that were ever made. I paid £23,600. I thought at the time that it was worth it.
I'll take it to SA, Surrey chapter and see what they say.

I would like to point to the South Western Shrine that is Spooners in Plymouth.

Unfortunately the Luftwaffe turned it from this...

...into a pile of rubble, which Plymouth Corporation turned into this...

It is a sad thing for Spooner enthusiasts.

I'm so glad I found this place where I am among like minded people. It is so difficult to find people with an understanding of this, err, fetish.

I went in and showed them this. I had to do the standard intro "Hello, I'm Jambon and I'm a (badly) functioning spooner deviant. Then it flowed..,
I explained that I invested in this tool because I was more focussed on stirring vortex than optimising my herbal brew.

There's nothing there of value, Moose. But, I'll take it off your hands for a fiver.

Cheers,

Blib, I can only assume you would be willing to pay a fiver for the cabinet? I would pay a tenner for the Spoons plus the cabinet since they are not worth any more and certainly not thousands , honest.

Cheers,

The KP.

Not mine. $150 on the local Facebook group. I was surprised!

Thought my fellow SAs might be interested in this little article. It certainly sparked some interesting debate up at the Wiltshire (North West) monthly meet last night. :

I realise there are pressures on our schools and that these days infusion studies and aromatic beverages don't have the same appeal as social-media studies; but how we let people leave formal education unable to recognise a Jeremy Johnson is quite beyond me.

Interestingly many members thought their estimate of £1000 was set deliberately low in an attempt to attract attention (I shouldn't think such stunts are needed in this case) but I agree it seemed rather conservative seeing as a Bonhams sold a 1655 with the same pleasing fig shaped bowl and faceted stem. Admittedly I do believe that particular example had a gilded fluted and scroll finial prick whereas this one has at least lost its gilding if ever it had it. Might also have been just before the last big market correction in 2008...

The Crack Fox, gutted for you mate. Can't beat spooning your Mum at Christmas.

Looking to up my own Spooning game, I went to a Spoonerism lecture the other day.

I asked about the value of Meghan commemorative spoons.

I got told I was in the wrong lecture and I had "Tea-totally pissed the moint of being there".

"Wucking Fanker" I said in mock gratitude as I left.

An example of Speygruber, but an abject one. Given the premium pricing, is this to buy and expect future increase, or just avoid. I feel the latter.

Seems an energised spoon is what you need.

I wish I hadn't clicked on that ... years of carefully curating my online profile so I only see adverts for proper spoons and now it's all just "Shine bright like Ruth with a Top Shop teaspoon" furious

We all know why Geller got into spoon bending and I'm surprised he's gotten away with it for so long

OK fellow festive spoonists, what did Santa bring you this year?

I was lucky enough to unwrap this fine pair of 16th century, silver, Grand-Duc Fromage Coulant duelling spoons.

Not had an opportunity to try them out yet, but as soon as I can obtain the period-correct "Gantelets de brassage" I'm giving them a try.
