A friend used to live next door to David Dickinson, the aged perma-tanned presenter on Antiques Roadshow. His house sits on the side of a hill on Shrigley Road.
He used to stay at my Mum's B&B when filming in her area.

My mate is Dickie Attwood's godson, and presented me with a signed photo of Dickie and Steve McQueen on the set of Le Mans, when I bought my U Boat.

I was once so busy smiling at Patsy Kensit that I walked into a lampost. She doubled up laughing and asked me if it hurt.
Who is Dickie Attwood?
Visit the Goodwood Revival next year and he'll be iin the "official" BRM P261. Won the 1970 Le Mans 24-hours.

Has anybody met Ronnie Pickering in a supermarket queue?
I wouldn't know who he is.
Now that deserves a round of applause!

I stood behind Bree Olsen in the security queue at LAX. Whole time thinking "I know your face, i bloody know you...." Wasn't until she opened her mouth that I twigged.

Signed up and did 12 years, 52 to 64.
He was an airframe engineer, started on piston engined aircraft and transferred to 1st generation helicopters.

Was meant to have been on the Mall for the coronation but swapped it for a long weekend!

I really need to get his stories written down, he has some absolute crackers.

SD.
Shed, I guess you were planning on doing this anyway (and not meaning to teach you how to suck eggs) but would be a good shout to record his memoirs rather than just writing them down as he spoke. That way, you'll get his voice to keep after he's no longer with us....

Museums are interested in recording oral history. Your father’s stories would probably be very welcome.

Sadly, Parkinsons disease has left his speech almost inaudible. I should have done this years ago.

Ah sorry, maybe still record it though as you might pick out some of the words better via technology, maybe (sorry, not putting this across very well!).

He has admitted that he has social anxiety and does not feel comfortable in public situations or even private ones with people he does not know.

I used to drink with this young lady,

In 2004, I lived in Hoboken NJ and used to drink in a bar called Trinity. Aileen was the host for the restaurant and would show you to the table. My social group were friends with the owners and staff and so Aileen became part of that group and very close to another friend of mine. It was only after knowing her for a while that we discovered she was Annie in both film and stage. She came from a theatrical family but had given up on the dream of stardom at this point. However, she was offered a job teaching acting for Broadway and that reignited the passion so she ended up moving to the West Coast.

Here is how many of you may remember her.

One of the above posts brought back a memory. I played a pro-am with Nigel Mansell. And with Ian Woosnam plus numerous others who were much younger than me and later became household names. That was in the days when Iam Woosnam was an assistant Pro and was playing for the grand sum of £150. I still have the programme!

And that reminds me my father once partnered Seve Ballesteros. I'd forgotten that one.

I met Rolf Harris on a train to Manchester when I was about 11 years old. He was (and still is as far as I know) the nicest 'famous' person I've ever met. He took the time to help me draw some doodles and I've still got the framed pics on my wall.

On the other hand I met Damon Albarn (sp?) and he was a right obnoxious tt...
