Odd things your neighbours do?
Discussion
Neighbours over the road and a few doors down:
Our street was built just over three years ago but they still haven't put any curtains up in their house. They must get about three hours' sleep a night in Summer!
The bloke is another one who goes out for 30-45 minutes at around 11pm most nights. No idea what eh gets up to but it's a bit odd. He must be on about £25-30k and she doesn't work but they've got a fairly new house for which they paid c. £220k and they go away on decent holidays during most school hols. I also heard that they store crisps in their dishwasher.

Drug dealing. Our street was built just over three years ago but they still haven't put any curtains up in their house. They must get about three hours' sleep a night in Summer!

I do this also; i have a petrol turbo and do this to allow the turbo to cool off before shutting down.
Edit: not for hours at a time, just a few minutes
I am pretty sure you don't need to do this unless you have actually thrashed the car immediately before arriving home. I drive a petrol turbo and very rarely am I able to drive it in the vicinity of my home in a way that actually uses the turbos. Driving calmly for the last 5 minutes before you get home should be enough.Edit: not for hours at a time, just a few minutes

The other neighbour opposite is very pleasant but does something that I just cannot work out. Every day when they return home from work, they sit in their car (often directly outside the house) and play games on their mobile or send messages to contacts (always with the engine running the entire time). This can go on for over an hour a lot of the time and I just cannot work out the reasons for it.

I presume that you are referring to the last sentence. The guy who erected the shed was the original occupier and the one whom the OP did not meet.
I'm unsure which bit I haven't got here, but essentially the guy bought a new house, his neighbour was going to start a dog breeding business, but was then swiftly moved out by the developers who bought his house back off him.You then gave the guy some very sensible advice about contacting the LA to block the neighbour from opening his breeding business, but that neighbour is now gone so this seems a bit pointless?
What have I not got?!
OP moves in / neighbour moves in / neighbour erects shed and lays turf / developer purchases neighbours property for intended dog breeding business / neighbour moves out / OP did not have a chance to meet neighbour.
That's how I read it.

You read it wrong. Go and read it a third time. OP moves in / neighbour moves in / neighbour erects shed and lays turf / developer purchases neighbours property for intended dog breeding business / neighbour moves out / OP did not have a chance to meet neighbour.

How did you hear that?
I can't see him being a drug dealer. He's too timid for that. He's known by the rest of the blokes on the street as "mute" because he's so bloody shy.
A house down the road from us sold late last year. Since the new owners have been in, I've seen a different car parked over the pavement at the front (annoying) pretty much every few days. The cars always seem to be driven by quite nice looking young women. I think they do porno couch casting in the house. The owners also have cars with broken accelerators. Each time they leave the house they seem to be accelerating as hard as they can.
One house over the road is lived in by two men and one woman. I think they have a special relationship.
Another house a bit further down the road (and set next to a sort of side road) sold early last year. Since then, there have been about 8 cars and vans parked outside the front, on the pavement, on the grass next to the pavement etc. I commented to my fiancée yesterday that it looks like they are slowly colonising the part of the street outside their home.

Mine are the opposite. They've been here 8 years and I'm yet to see their curtains open. Strange pair, both heavily involved in the local church. They seem to house random teenagers for days at a time. Every time I see them they offer to pray for me. I'm slightly worried as to why 😳Our street was built just over three years ago but they still haven't put any curtains up in their house. They must get about three hours' sleep a night in Summer!
Some of our neighbours had a massive barney the other day and he said he was never coming back (top volume), he has been back but their cars are never there at the same time, and he parks his car across the drive so it looks like he is preventing her parking there.
Our neighbours next door have had a fantastic extension and remodelling of the inside of the house, the rest still looks like Steptoes yard a year later, the block paving piled up, bags of rubble, grass all messy, plants untended, looks a right state, a couple of hours and a skip would have it looking ok.

I live in a block of flats which has "casual parking" for 6 cars, then a bit of on-road parking. The neighbour in #8 promptly runs down to his car and moves it from the road to the off-road parking as soon as he sees a car that has been parked in the "casual parking" leave the road. I swear he sits in his kitchen watching for cars to leave. Worst part, he parks like a t**t every time he parks in the casual parking bays... Odd, and annoying.

But good advice re: planning etc. There are many businesses operating from private houses without planning permission. I don't mean using the spare bebroom to do your accounts VAT etc, but full on, with customers and deliveries.
