As a quick everyday smoke, I usually have a Montecristo Purito, but had run out of them. The local specialist tobacconist I use was closed, so I thought I'd try something over the counter. I randomly settled on a packet of Henri Wintermans Half Coronas, and I must say they are really rather pleasant! Mild and very smokey, lovely aroma and nice size to hold, being slightly thicker than a Purito. I'd recommend to anyone wanting a quick everyday smoke, and less than tenner for 5, you can't go wrong.

As it happened, I read this then went for a rummage in the humidor, where I found an opened packet of Henris. Strange place to keep them, but there you go.
They've been sat there for the better part of two years, so I took one out and smoked it.

Not too bad as you say.
Must try the Puritos some time though, the minis are just too small to bother with.
Nothing will replace hand rolled Cubans for me, but sometimes these smaller cigars can be more practical.

Yes the Monte Club size are a pain, I found virtually every other one unravelled, utterly pointless. You can't beat hand rolled for a nice long quality smoke, but the advantage of machine rolled is as they aren't as tightly rolled, they're ideal for a quick smoke, without 'rushing', if that makes sense.

Thanks, the Bolivar Libertador were quite different to any other Boli's I have had before, more subtle and smooth. Has anyone here tried the Partagas Serie E no 2? Epic cigar!

The only Partagas I've had was a P2, what a heavyweight. I asked my tobacconist what the quintessential "cured tobacco flavour" cigar was, on his list of recommendations was the P2, he was bang on the money. Such a strong flavour that it made my mouth water, not a smoke to be taken lightly but very pleasant if the mood takes me.

I had a Cohiba Siglo II this evening. What a delight. There are no surprises, just a good take on the classic Cuban profile. Excellent burn and construction, flavours of strong, rich tobacco with a slight, creamy bean sweetness. Medium body but very light in terms of strength. A good smoke.

Yes, the Siglo 2 is the greatest of the petit coronas for me, although I love the Bolivar PC as well, fuller than the Cohiba though rather less subtle.

I have been deviating lately away from Cuba and have been having some Nicaraguan cigars. Some really great ones, I particularly enjoy the Oliva serie V, bit I am lately pining for some Cohibas and seriously considering going all out and getting myself a 15-pack of Esplendidos…….smile

I pick up four boxes of 25 on my way to work every month, (I work away for 28 days) it has been my everyday smoke for a couple of years now and I agree they are great value.
I typically have three of these and one 'decent' cigar per day, currently my decent cigar is Vega Fina Robusto, again a very good value cigar.

The Oliva Serie V is a fantastic smoke, very nice indeed - probably one of the richest, oiliest smokes I can think of. I might have one at my cigar lounge next weekend.

Nice selection there. I do enjoy a Romeo Y Julieta - No. 2.

How do you find the Boveda Humidifier packs work?

The Boveda packs seem to work great

I keep my cigars in an airtight tupperware. Have got a cheap LCD humidity sensor in there and they stay a nice constant 70

Just have to open the box every couple of weeks to "air" them.

I'll get a humidor eventually, but i dont smoke very often and generally have "cheaper" cigars in there.

The L'Atelier Trocadero Cambon is a cracking cheap smoke BTW. Loads of smoke, even burn and nice and smooth. Can normally pick them up for about £4 each (cheaper if you are willing to order from non-EU)

Good selection of Alec Bradley stuff there. They were my go to cigars until my local cigar lounge started stocking Drew Estate. Try their Texas Lancero, it's a hell of a smoke.

The Alec bradley stuff that i have tried has been very good

I was a bit of a Cuban snob, but thought i'd give the "new world" stuff a try and havent had a bad experience yet. I really want to try some more of the Oliva range and also Tatuaje.

I gave a Black Market Robusto to my boss for christmas and he is a proper Cuban only guy. In his opinion its not worth smoking unless its a Cuban. Well... He was very impressed! They are good smokes! The BM robusto is very strong though, a little too strong for me, need a good session to sit and smoke one of those.

I need to try a few new world sticks. I've had a guy at work give me a few sticks from Costa Rica which were ok but nothing I would hold in high regard to the cubans I've smoked. In saying that the costas were everyday type smokes so as to be expected I suppose.

Currently patiently awaiting the arrival of....

4x hoyo de Monty number 2
3x hoyo de Monty du price
2x r&j Churchill short
