Another year, and another Churchill birthday celebration.
A Romeo y Julieta Churchill
Again Pol Roger champagne and an excellent Hind cognac.
The event was again a few days ahead of the actual day.
With hindsight that is a bit odd as the Fox events are mostly on Thursdays, and this year the 30th is actually on a Thursday (next).
All the same, a good evening and an interesting crowd as always.

First of the JJ Fox events that I have been to...and I shall do all I can to attend them in the future. An excellent event with an interesting mix of people. There really is nothing better than a stick and a chat!

Hello, long time lurker here, just hang out to breathe in the smoke as I haven't smoked a cigar for well over ten years.
Which is why I'm posting, I'd really appreciate some advice on my stash.
My stash is over ten years old and consists of:
Cohiba: 5 1/2" R52 x 4
5" R48 x 16
5" R38 x 17
Montecristo: 5" R48 x 19
I have an approximate idea of what they cost to replace as new, but I'm wondering if their age would command a premium and it's not a question I'd want to put to a dealer without any inkling whatsoever.
Pointers appreciated. Thanks folks.
Aged cigars generally do command a premium (arguably for no good reason, perhaps misunderstood by those easily parted from their cash who expect them to age like wine). Some specific cigars from a particular year or series ware quite sought after. Which is why I'm posting, I'd really appreciate some advice on my stash.

I would seek appraisal at a dealer, as much as you might not like to. You don't have to accept their valuation but it will give you an indication of their true value, less the dealer margin. That said, they might well not be worth what you think they are, as they look rather dry and damaged.

How did we miss each other then? Or did we?... First of the JJ Fox events that I have been to...and I shall do all I can to attend them in the future. An excellent event with an interesting mix of people. There really is nothing better than a stick and a chat!
Not the best of their larger/more popular events to be fair. But very good all the same I thought.
Just to make the point; they can be (and usually are) even better.

No idea... I was the honey-monster sized chap in a pink shirt and navy suit...both of which seem to be a sponge for cigar smoke (I see a trip to the dry cleaners in my future). Chatted to a few people and was there with a pal I hadn't seen for a while, too.Not the best of their larger/more popular events to be fair. But very good all the same I thought.

I'll set my calendar by next year's schedule!

Let us know on here if you are coming to the next one.... goaty stands out and you will probably notice my shoes before anything else
Dual colour? If so, I noticed the shoes.First cigar in a while for me last night, I had a La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Buil.
While the hype for this cigar has reached the stratosphere, I was a bit cyincal, I shouldn't have been. A rich and full bodies as a Partagas P2 or a CAO Brazilia, but with incredible depth and complexity of flavour. Extremely slow smoking too. Normally I'd have two cigars in a sitting but the richness coupled with length of time it took to smoke it meant I was done after one stick.

I should have paid closer attention when I read your post this morning. I was less than 50 yds. from a Havana House shop this afternoon, and could have grabbed one or two to try,

No use to me as I've just splashed my cash on a tube of sweets but someone want to bid.

It would have to be a very large tube of sweets to have had any effect on your choosing not to bid on those!Just dropped in to my inbox.

Yesterday, a couple of Partagas petit coronas especiales.
Length: 5 1/8 (130mm)
Gauge: 42
Firstly one at JJ Fox, the next later on, on the Selfridge's terrace.
The latter turning out to be a poor choice of venue given yesterday's zero/sub-zero temperatures.
Thank goodness it was an almost windless evening.
I was forced to accept the indignity of the 'old man's knee blanket' to retain any level of comfort.
The cigars were excellent and to be highly recommended as a full-flavoured yet easy and gentle smoke.
