More frivolous purchases, stuff you don't need..

They rarely sell for that much. I suspect demand (and hence high prices) for these will drop off with the new version although there will always be someone who wants the original but its like other collectable toys, only worth a lot if it's unmade/unboxed.
I doubt the new ones will ever get as high.

how do people have these already when they aren't released until October? Does that mean they are all sold out, and "normal" people won't be able to get them?
It should be said that they launched the kit for "VIPs" yesterday, although anyone can become a VIP by signing up on their site or in-store, it's the equivalent of a Tesco Clubcard.shirt said:
If it's sold out already what are they fetching on eBay?
My local Lego shop will have some, doesn't seem to be a 'thing' over here
The new kits are being advertised on eBay for between £800-1100, although that doesnt guarentee the seller actually has any yet as the official release date to Joe Public is October 4 (i think) there was a pre sale launch in London where a select few bought the kit earlyMy local Lego shop will have some, doesn't seem to be a 'thing' over here
Talking of wallets, I frivolously purchased one of their leather wallets back in 2000, lika dis one.
I think back then it cost me around £160, as you can see from the link they're about 100 quid more than that now. At the time, people were all like (excuse the Americanism) "are you mental - one sixty for just a WALLET??!! Etc..."
I must admit, I did feel it was a wee bit extravegant too, especailly as we all know, wallets fall apart after a few years, right?
Well no. Here we are, 17 years later, that wallet still goes in my back pocket nearly every single day, get sat on, probably gets sweated on and is used all the time. You know, like you do with wallets! On only two occasions I have given it a bit of a clean with warm soapy water, let it dry out and treated it with a bit of leather feed.
It still looks near enough as damn it as good as the day I bought it - and the metal stud logo is also still firmly attached to the front, despite my cynicism that I reckoned it would probably fall off withing a year or two. So.....anyone looking for a wallet which will LAST - consider one of these? Was frivolous at first but now.....seems not so much!

Its a quality item and will last for many years, one of those things for which there is a pleasure in its ownership and use.I think back then it cost me around £160, as you can see from the link they're about 100 quid more than that now. Buggers sent me an email that was it I bought it. I cannot find any of my tools so this will end up in some random place I never find.

There is something very pleasing about the arrangement of the bits.http://www.ebuyer.com/665322-xenta-3-6v-lithium-io...

Silly money at ~£400...
Might as well just buy a Chinese tablet for ~£75 and connecting keyboard / case for ~£25.
Apart from the fact that doesn't run Windows 10 natively on x64. The fact this does means a whole host of specialist automotive setup, calibration and diagnostic software runs on it which you can't run on anything else of a similar size/weight. Even the smallest thing pads are many times bigger than this! It will also charge from 2.5Amps USB C which means no AC Adapters to lug around either. It's not that frivolous really.....I'd say more niche.Might as well just buy a Chinese tablet for ~£75 and connecting keyboard / case for ~£25.

Frivolous indeed, but I am strangely drawn to a fully functioning 7 inch Mini Laptop:

Am in two minds whether to buy it or one of these as a cheap surface alternative:https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_613003.html

I don't want to buy both to find out what's best.

For me, it would be the mini-thingy. A huge amount of appeal is the ability to have a work laptop that I could fit in a cycling jersey pocket to take home at the end of the day.I don't want to buy both to find out what's best.
