We have a two person open one, and last year we could just get both adults and two small boys in it. This year we won't manage it, so that's a very reasonable option to enlarge the fleet.

Please ensure you dress as a pirate when you try it out.
I was debating getting a 2 seater but settled on a single instead.
I would dress as a pirate but I don't fancy losing an eye and a leg to complete the look.

The eye patch wasn't because the owner had lost an eye - instead captains had a "day" eye, and a "night" eye that meant they had an advantage in spotting potential targets before they'd been seen.

I am not sure that you are joking, but I hope so.

Are they any published maps or guides where rivers are easily navigable, where weirs etc are?
Google Paddle Points. A good website / app which covers UK and abroad.

There’s also a very good book called Pub Paddles (though more SE UK focussed).
That is excellent. Just what I was after thanks.

No, he's completely serious, and correct.

Hmm I am now unsure if you are doubling down on his joke or also believe this to be true.

Buying clothes ain't frivolous, living in NW Europe, temperate climate and all, but I have bought a expensive leather jacket on the
appallingly meagre premise that Daniel Craig looked good in one.

It will languish, with all the other poorly thought out purchases, in the dungeon of despair and delusion.

Have a third "it's true", try it yourself. Close one eye for a few minutes, go into a dark room and open that eye, it will pretty much be accustomed to dark whereas the other eye will have to adapt (which can take a while)

I seem to recall it being on QI, but that there's not a lot evidence for it actually being true. It does clearly work, but trying to work on a deck of a ship without any depth perception must be tricky if you don't have to do it.

Isn't the point that the watch or captain don't need to "work" on board when out on a pirate hunt?

They're there to spot and plan the attack - hunts between sailing vessels taking hours.

If you're looking for an insulated mug, you really want a half decent sized one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bubba-Classic-Foam-Insula...

1.5 litres. smile

I have the 1 litre version for work to reduce the number of trips to the kitchen for tea. (I now make more frequent trips to the loo, but that's closer.)
