Just bought a NES, will be nice dropping from the current 32 and 16 bit consoles onto that.

Assuming they aren’t Alexa/Google compatible already, you now need to buy an Alexa or google home (if you don’t have one already) and some WiFi adapters to have voice control as well. biggrin

What is your preferred size ?

Just wondering as I am looking for ideas.
Depends what keys you actively use. I never use the F keys outside of F5, nor do I use the number row for any serious spreadsheet work. With a decent keyboard you can make any key work as any other key or key combo. So the one F key I do use, F5, I have bound to FN + Del. I do use the arrow keys a lot however, so a 65% suits me at the moment. I'm slowly building a 40% keyboard (waiting on the stabilisers and case to come) that has a very similar layout to what I have now but without the number row. It'll be a test bed to see if the layout agrees with me and then I can look if I want to spend more money and build a long term 40%. If not I'll probably go down the 65 to 60% route.

Both the 40% I'm building and the 65% I currently use have hot swap switch sockets. Great for trying out different switch types to work out what you like as otherwise you have to desolder the existing switches to do so. Switch testers are ok but nowhere nearly as good as actually typing on a proper keyboard with the switches installed for a week or more.

There are a ton of different layouts even for small boards like a 40%, best to work out what you need and work backwards.

Arrow keys, feel, mainly. I'd happily ditch the function row and numpad, hence going down the reduced route. Went to the planck first, realized the number row was a must have for me (too many layers and combos to remember), so went preonic. Didn't really get on with the flat key profile, and lack of arrow keys and not being able to drop your hand on the arrows by feel was an issue.

By then I'd got some hi-pro caps, and the profile worked comfortably for me.

Probably the best compromise board was the white fox...but it was too flimsy. They had that as a selling point, but I wasn't keen on the feel - plus the arrows needed more separation.

Ergodox just doesn't work when you're on and off a mouse a lot.

Ideally I'd like a function key row removed, slightly horizontally condensed TKL board, in a similar case to what I have currently (~5lb of alloy), but I'm happy enough with this not to feel a great urge to change. Plus, I'm $300 into it and don't want to waste that.
I've not had the same problem locating my arrow keys on my alt and I use them a lot, guess I'm just lucky with my muscle memory kicking in quickly for them.

Who doesn't love a completely pointless £15 watch when you already have 11 perfectly good, much better and more expensive watches???
You got me searching Curran. Whilst looking On EBay I clicked on buy it now thinking I would divert to PayPal but no I ended up buying the stupid ugly POS. £8.95. It’s sat on the side all week till today and it is still a POS.

That would make a lovely Christmas present for someone you don't like.

Now that we’re getting in to autumn what better time to buy an ice cube maker!

Had to move the never used bread maker out the way to accommodate it. More useful kitchen appliances.

About 8 or 9 every 6 minutes, they aren’t very big though

Yes but the ice maker in it has packed in and her in doors keeps taking out the ice cube trays to make room for the turkey twizzlers.

Kind of frivolous, no one needs this, a Porsche advent calendar!

I did manage to get this past the wife though!

My wife got me one of those last year.
Mine had a red Porsche though.

It's quite a nice little model but they really really really stretch it out over the 24 days.

Knowing how much followers of this thread like some headphone action, it seemed reasonable to drop today's Costco purchase in here.

Quite literally... head... phones.

And frivolous, because I bought some expensive wireless headphones just a few weeks ago.

Yes, I’ve got some of them as well. The battery doesn’t last that long though.
Mine are scrap - the battery is fooked after 3 months - battling with Aftershokz to get replaced. Avoid!
Credit where credit is due - aftershokz supplied a replacement pair with a free carry case. All is forgiven 😀

My £2 watch has arrived. If I'm honest, I feel a little bit ripped off.
This is what I ordered

The reality (I only bought this out of pure curiosity so won't be wearing it)

Wear it with pride man. Wonder which will break first, the watch or strap.

Too loud to use indoors, too loud to use in the garden so it just sits in its case, locked up.
