Dearly departed shops :-(

And C and A.
I used to buy a lot of clothes from them.
I know it wasn't cutting edge fashion but you could unearth some decent stuff and generous sizes too.
I used to use the big store in Hounslow West London, I thinks it's a Dreams bed store now.
Another loss is MFI, I guess IKEA was there main competitor.
I wonder if there will be others in the not too distant.

When I was a kid there was a shop called Homeworld near us, it sold everything from soft furnishings to TV's etc.
My grandad used to take us near Christmas as he'd be looking for something nice for my Grandma. I remember hours of fun in that place, watching all the amazing TV's hooked up to VCR's. I think of it this time of year as it's long gone (now a Tesco Extra) as is my grandad (long gone, not a tesco extra ). Good times!
In Pool? I remember Homeworld, bought by first stereo there. They also had RC tanks at one point, I think. They were probably rubbish, but seemed amazing as a kid.My grandad used to take us near Christmas as he'd be looking for something nice for my Grandma. That was over 25 years ago now though which makes me feel old
Beatties swallowed up by House Of Fraser about 10 years ago. That was over 25 years ago now though which makes me feel old
C&A retreated back to mainland europe 20 years ago.
MFI went bust, swallowing up all the pensions...

If you're ever in Bruges, pop into the one there, nostalgia lives on. I used to buy a lot of clothes from them.

Goldbergs in Edinburgh. Fascinating place as kid. Roof top cafe and it's very own menagerie.
