Jordan Peterson debate on the gender pay gap, campus protests and postmodernism:

It's a pleasure to watch this guy - he refuses to allow the interviewer to put words in his mouth or de-rail the point he's trying to make by taking bits of what he's saying and trying to twist it to her own viewpoint. I'm actually going to get his book off the back of this I think.

I can’t believe I just watched a half hour interview with some random psychologist I’ve never heard of and yet couldn’t stop watching for a second! He sounds like a brilliantly clever man.

He appears to have a valid set of observations based on facts and decades of working in psychology. He also seems to want to make people better (regardless of gender) and all she could do was try to paint him into a corner or mark him as some anti-feminist/misogynist when he appears to be nothing of the sort. What's frustrating is that the interviewer couldn't get the simple observations.

The second stage was entirely covered by an ablative heat shield that due to aerodynamic friction became hotter than the interior of its rocket motor and glowed incandescently in daylight."

Annoyingly she could have lead a very interesting interview with someone who clearly has a lot professional and academic experience on a subject and has a refreshingly pragmatic viewpoint but instead she pushes for a controversial slant.

Very interesting guy to listen to despite her trying to run him in circles.

Yep Peterson is huge at the moment. He's a fantastic speaker and there's a wealth of content out there on Youtube, including his own channel. He's good with anecdotes as well.

Agreed. He would make an observation and she would immediately try and twist that into something and he kept correcting her by saying, "I don't agree or disagree with it, it's just an observation of how things are." We can't discuss things if we haven't taken stock of the current situation. I particularly loved his position on 'equality' for men and women (we're different, we'll never be the same but we should have the same opportunities) and that what happens when men and women are left to their own devices, they tend to sort themselves into different job roles which results in very different remuneration - the only way to 'fix' that would be by effectively forcing people into fields they don't want to work in. He's also right to point out that just as there are fields dominated by men, there are fields dominated by (highly skilled, well-paid and capable) women such as medicine.

I love the moments where the interviewer asks something she thinks will tie him up and he almost welcomes it as it plays straight into a point he wants to make. A great interview in spite of a poor interviewer.
