I think the answer is youtube actually does pay out more than $1000 per 10 million views. One of the channels I subscribe to has five people working full time making 3-5 videos per week with maybe one of those eventually breaking a million views, somehow I doubt they're sharing $100 for a week's work. Or Colin Furze who must have tens of thousands spent on tools and materials to make videos that would regularly pull $2-300? Unlikely.

yes it more complex nowadays, length of video, like over 10 minutes, being monetized and if the viewer has adblocker. its also why there is more content more frequently.
