4x4 Response.

South Eastern, no less.

Hi viz, and Aussie bush hats aplenty.

My word. Where were they displaying?
Tractorfest.

Actually, I should have said that.

Member of public: "Help, I've got my car stuck in this muddy field / whatever"
Walts: " 4x4 to the rescue"
Tractor owners: "Nah, we got this one...."

I'm amazed that the Thunderbirds didn't have a battered Land Rover with extra lights, a winch, and a snorkel, as 1 of their International Rescue vehicles!
Even the Paw Patrol don't have one!

Cyclowalts - "Hold traffic to allow safe passage of the race convoy or ‘bubble’"

Do they have devolved authority from the police to do this?
If it's an official one the road is closed with the authority of the police and AFAIK they should have a letter form the police stating that.

Certainly when I've marshalled* a couple of times at a local half marathon I've been such a letter.

* I did have a high vis but no 4x4. Sadly the same couldn't be said of the Raynet numpty who seemed to think he was in charge because he had a radio and could talk to someone.

I'm trying to work out if the efforts of the cajun navy are amazing, or a massive Walt fest. I think it might be both.
Unfortunately a gun doesn't have much against a flood.
Not with that attitude. Bullets are hot. You shoot water with many bullets, it evaporates (runs away) into the clouds, and thus falls on France the next day.

"We are delighted and honoured to be able to announce that we have been granted new powers under section 38 of the 2017 Policing and crime act enabling us to further support Kent Police in keeping the county moving and the roads safe.
Using designated powers, South East 4x4 Response is now able to place cordons on roads - excluding motorways – and direct traffic. This will enable its 100 volunteers to deal with incidents such as fallen trees, broken down vehicles and vehicles trapped in adverse weather conditions."

I can see the rationale, I just hope it isn't abused/misused.

If they're using Police powers, does their liability insurance cover them or is it covered by the State at the point the Police powers are being used?

Don't tell UK Walts but I have just discovered that in Texas they call their version of the Highways team the "Highway Emergency Response Operators"

And knowing how much the Yanks love an acronym, they obviously reverse-engineered it to fit something to HERO.

Seemingly they "work closely with Fire, Police and EMT units"

Don't know if it's Walting when it's a soldier doing it, but this is a particular sad bit of behaviour - A feted 96 year old US veteran, hailed as D-Day hero, awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Legion of Honour admits he was in Northern Ireland at the time.

What a dick.
I read that, very sad. A revered soldier actually turned out to be a lifetime Walt... finally uncovered.

It would seem an apt time for me to admit, publicly, that in all honesty, I did not fight at the Battle of Borodino.

You should have waited until Thursday to admit that.
