Many years ago I worked at Wythenshawe Hospital. The security guards had this enormous, shaggy GSD for their exterior patrols. Usually pulling violently on the lead and hauling a burly security guard around the grounds, growling and barking at anything that moved.

It was stolen by a couple of school kids nicking car radios.

SD.
Many years ago during the university summer vacation I took a job as a security guard. Night shift, guarding the construction of part of a new town. I was armed with a torch and, as above, an enormous, shaggy GSD for my exterior patrols. It had an outside kennel, but after my first patrol I discovered that this was no use, as the enormous, shaggy GSD got lonely and started whimpering and crying as soon as I left it alone. I was forced to bring it into my office, which was fine for it, but not for me as it had an appalling wind problem! yuck

Driving down the A1 yesterday, the cars in front all break as a police car merges from the slip road.

The police car in question had some gaffer tape through the word 'Police' which struck me as odd. When I pass the car, there was a driver with a highviz jacket on and in the window are some stickers for a website - https://www.policechaseuk.com/. - A company that offer the experience of either driving 'a police car' around a track, or try to outrun the police car in a Volvo C30.

Personally not for me, but whatever floats your boat. But driving the car below along a dual-carriageway?

(Not as part of the experience I should add - just moving from A to B it looked like)

To be honest, if he's taped over the Police sticker, surely he doesnt want people thinking he is police? Almost like an Anti-walt

It was just a single line of tape, not completely covered,

There are specific laws covering use of the reflective battenburg livery for police cars too. So he may fall foul of that. A thin bit of tape wouldn't cut it as no one can see that. They should have magnetic police signs that can be removed or magnetic covers. They might be able to cover up the blue lights but I am pretty sure they would also need to be inoperative. There are slightly different rules depending on which emergency service, but Police are the most restrictive of the set.

I'm late to this thread and MrMinion.

Wow!

2 mins looking on his Twitter feed and a video of him rushing out of his (mum's) house to clear the local park of kids playing footy because he thought the air ambulance flying overhead may land on it!
Think he did it twice!

Appreciate this is from five years ago but I've only just read it and it provoked a proper belly laugh from me. This thread is hilarious.

But here’s the thing, did he actually go anywhere? I doubt it. Even the so called Helo pilot that commented, is believed to be him, posting from another profile.

I doubt that he's really going to move, it's just another piece of walting.. He's a "big admirer" of the Northants chief constable ( in Mr Minion's terms "the big man" ) and every so often talks about joining the Northants police.

The assessment centre process was 2 days long when I did it many years ago. It consisted of interviews, role play exercises, written problem solving as well as a bleep test and swim test. Looking at his half baked ravings, I doubt he'd pass the paperwork exercise required to get to the assessment centre stage.
Unsurprisingly, social media presence is also vetted during the application process. Whilst harmless, his postings scream Walt rather than professional. The oft maligned Special Constabulary is no longer full of guys and girls like this, so all avenues to uniform and power are blocked. Thank God.
There is a Police Volunteer program that might, just maybe consider him... https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/your-right-to... D&C Police getting volunteers to clean the patrol cars.....a tad cheeky.

"Citizens In Policing"...

Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol ??

Cheeky process... and that would also mean a Walt would also get to drive a real police car.

I think the closest he’ll ever get to the police is when he gets arrested for putting someone down with as much force as he deems necessary ( or however he phrased it, in one of his incoherent rants).

The police volunteer "wash a police car" scheme does seem to appeal to some special needs people. I did ask if that meant that the police were taking advantage of vulnerable people, had a reply from an inspector who said they were well aware of any potential problems and provided support if needed. He saw it as a way of helping out people who then appreciated being made to feel useful.

I don't think a Walt would get to actually drive a police car, perhaps they'd be allowed to sit in the driver's seat and turn the blues and twos on, as a special treat.
