The thought of doing my London rounds today, in full NBC did cross my mind, not cos I’m bovered, cos it would be hilarious to be on the tube in full NBC, until I collapsed of heat exhaustion.
Good man. Get it done. It's got to be 3 Romeo or nothing though - no point in any half measures. and definitely try walking down Whitehall past Downing Street in full rig, to get yourself on the news... wink

I've definitely got my old S6 somewhere. And possibly an older training NBC suit. Tony in the stores had no interest in taking back my old 1157 except for my Kevlar, lid and vest. Everything else is in a Bergen (or three) in the garage and for nearly 8 years I've been meaning to sell it or give it all away. Maybe it'll "come in handy" after all???

Still got my S6 as well. I had to do two years reserve service when I left (RN) so you had to keep a lot of your kit. Been in the loft for about 30 years now!
You sure on that! I left in 97 and all I returned was my S10 and id card, (but kept that) And yes I think you automatically went onto the reserve list for 2/3 years.....(if they could find me).

230 pages.

There can't be many more comments / criticism / insults about these selfless but possibly misguided individuals. Or maybe this thread is on permanent 'repeat', to get a continuous 24/7 commentary.

Some of the posts are now gettng tiresome, How about a Corona- style, self induced moratorium?scratchchincoffee

I left in 90 and yes I had to keep a load of kit (I can't remember what was handed back). The S6 was one of the things I had to keep, as well as my ID card but that got perforated with "RES" (IIRC) for Reserve.

We were expected to attend once a year for a medical etc, and there was supposed to be a payment. I went to the first one and the first thing they told me that the payment was stopped. I never went back!

Yes! Lockdown Patrol - reporting all non-essentail people on the roads and footpaths?

Can I suggest the pointless contraction to "Non-Ess" to cut down radio chatter to the minimum?

Weve already got lots of "non-ess" here in Cornwall. They are easy to spot, several times a day they climb in and out of white boxes on wheels.

The NHS is looking for volunteers, including patient transport service to help with COVID-19

All those years with one eye on the phone have finally paid off.

You have been ACTIVATED.

But they won't actually do it, they'll be swanning about trying to get blue lights on their cars and take charge of everything, before going off in a huff...

When I heard about this I thought of this thread, and my first post which started it.

They'll all be there, brandishing multiple lanyards, hoping to pick up some more official documents. Captain Mainwearings assuming they control things when they don't. Stickered-up old Discoveries a plenty. Comments of "We really should be using blue lights" from the ranks of hi-fi's wearing bearded beer-bellied men.

There'll be dreams of road blocks. Blue-lighting medics. Callsigns issued, and used correctly. Now's the time to fit that LED light bar lads.

All the while, quiet, socially conscious dedicated people step-up and just get on with it.

Do they prefer Bang and Olufsen or maybe Denon? Which sits better on their beer bellies?

Part of the ongoing discussion is how they aren’t really that “selfless” though.
A massive part of their agenda appears to be talking themselves up, seeking attention and generally making themselves out to be far more useful, important and official that they actually are.

Yes, on your side. This is a strange thread concerning a tiny corner of a minority whose hearts are in the right place.
