Penhaligon's is good in my opinion.
I first smelled Penhaligon's 'Violetta' on a lap dancer, and I liked it that much that I asked her what it was, and bought a bottle for my wife.
After that I had a smell of the mens range and have been a big fan of buying 'Endymion' for the last few years. It's nice.
Can’t be serious lol. Did your wife ask how you knew about it?!I first smelled Penhaligon's 'Violetta' on a lap dancer, and I liked it that much that I asked her what it was, and bought a bottle for my wife.

I would add, that it was a good few years ago though. I haven’t frequented those sort of establishments for quite some time.
I mentioned a few posts earlier that I had ordered Creed ‘Greed Irish Tweed’.
Well, it arrived today, and... I’m hugely disappointed.
After I ordered it, I had a quick look on YouTube for a review of it, and vlogger ‘Jeremy Fragrance’ who I’m sure many of you have seen, declared Green Irish Tweed to be fantastic, but warned that “it smells exactly like Davidoff Cool Water”.
I didn’t believe that for one minute, and thought ‘Yeah right’, however I tried it today when it arrived, and it honestly does smell almost exactly like Cool Water. I mean, really like Cool Water. You would be hard pressed to tell them apart unless you were a fragrance expect, which I am not.
This isn’t a bad thing, because I actually really like Cool Water and have a large bottle of it, but it’s just that Cool Water is £28 for a massive 200ml EDT spray bottle and Green Irish Tweed is £175 for 50ml.
So the lessons are:
1) Watch fragrance review videos before buying, not after.
2) Don't buy Green Irish Tweed. Save yourself literally hundreds and buy Cool Water.

I really like Creed GIT; perhaps I should go try Cool Water!
I've really gotten into Bois du Portugal of late as well, have been switching between that and Bulgari's Man Wood Essence mainly.
Go on Amazon, spend £20 and get yourself Cool Water EDT spray and see what you think.I've really gotten into Bois du Portugal of late as well, have been switching between that and Bulgari's Man Wood Essence mainly.
Just be careful because many of the bottles of Cool Water are an ‘Aftershave Splash’ not an EDT spray.
I guarantee you’ll be amazed how similar it is to Creed GIT.

I would strongly suggest that instead of wasting any money up front (as you've admitted you've done Lord Marylebone) that you go and smell them before buying them. Things react differently to people's skin - no review etc is a guarantee an individual user will respond well to it.
You are, of course, absolutely correct.Sage advice there, and I do usually always try things in shops, or order a sample, before purchasing anything of value.
I have two Creed fragrances that I buy reasonably regularly, Aventus and Virgin Island Water, and I just fell into the trap of thinking that Creed can do no wrong, and that Green Irish Tweed will be amazing as many people rave about it.
Don't get me wrong, GIT is very nice. But it's way too similar (to my nose) to Cool Water to be worth paying the premium for.
I have Aventus and also Mont Blanc Explorer which was allegedly designed as an Aventus Clone. While there are certainly significant similarities between the two, Aventus is absolutely worth the money over Explorer.
If you don't want to pay the money for Aventus but want a largely similar smell, Explorer is great.

How long does Virgin Island Water last on you? I love it but it lasts about 2 hours max so I only get decants of it as I can't bring myself to pay full whack for it!
Whilst it doesn't last as well as the almighty Aventus (which to my nose can still be smelled strongly several days later on clothing etc) I find that Virgin Island Water still lasts 6-8 hours or so. I find it to be one of those where I can't smell it much after 2-3 hours, but other people can still smell it.It is also the fragrance that has received the most "You smell nice" compliments from women, out of everything I have ever had.
I appreciate it's quite 'in your face fruity' and smells like someone has spilled a Pina Colada down you, but I love it.

Edit - as people were talking about Penhaligon's earlier today, I like Juniper Sling for another similar scent - I guess they might be considered a bit more floral than fruity, but whatever it is I like it!

If you like woody ones you should try the one I mentioned a few posts up - Bvlgari Man Wood Essence.https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Bvlgari/Bvlgar...

Sort of contradicting my earlier advice on try before you buy, but Creed do a nice Oud and there’s a guy that sells it decanted in 10ml atomisers here https://tomscreeddecants.bigcartel.com/product/cre... As you’re in Wales I’m guessing there won’t be anyone open to try it in so might be worth a punt.I’ve bought from this guy for years; he used to have an eBay account but then ended up having his own website - 100% legit and a top lad to boot
