Cheers man will have look thumbup like I said don’t use it a lot ,sure wife would be concerned with me perfuming up every day doing a rough and ready gas engineer joblaugh
I am the opposite even when I am working offshore or overseas as you always get that one smelly bar steward on the platform/asset and I certainly don’t want that being me, not using anything mega expensive just a nice all rounder, I am not doing it to impress anyone but i still work with guys that can’t get their head round the idea

Always lurking on here, looking for ideas ,not a big perfume wearer, but do from time to time ,may have mentioned before ,have had jo Malone 152 & oud & bergamont,I like a woody fragrance ,as don’t use it very often it lasts me a good while ,any recommendations for a wood oud type smell
Sort of contradicting my earlier advice on try before you buy, but Creed do a nice Oud and there’s a guy that sells it decanted in 10ml atomisers here https://tomscreeddecants.bigcartel.com/product/cre... As you’re in Wales I’m guessing there won’t be anyone open to try it in so might be worth a punt.

I’ve bought from this guy for years; he used to have an eBay account but then ended up having his own website - 100% legit and a top lad to boot thumbup
Thanks for the recommendation and I have just ordered the creed royal oud so we will see what it’s like, I love Tom Ford Oud Wood so next is going to be Tom Ford tobacco Oud or Creed royal Oud

The last good one I bought was Ex Idolo 33, which is a rose oud. Lasts all day and night too.

As stated you'll want Tom Ford Oud Wood but not as a daily as the price makes baby Jesus cry.

Whilst we are talking about it, anyone else got a cheaper alternative for a daily to TF Oud Wood? I could have sworn someone posted a decent copycat for TF Oud Wood a few pages back.

I’ve finally decided to order from Toms Creed Decants after all the raving about him and I’ve finally decided that Creed is a pile of wk now, me and my brother have spent the past couple of years trying to find the old batch that we both had from 2014-15. It was very strong, sillage was crazy and it lasted for hours.

I bought one from John Lewis recently for £195 and had actually been able to get a refund as the performance was shocking, didn’t have that pineapple note and disappeared after an hour.

My final attempt was buying off Tom, the price was good and it was posted promptly but again, poor performance, doesn’t last at all. I ordered the Aventus Cologne & Aventus, put cologne on yesterday and Aventus today, both have poor performance.

I retire all energy dedicated to Aventus.

Penhaligons - Heartless Helen. Love the smell but very subtle after an hour.

For what it's worth, Copycat "Executive" which is a copy of Aventus, actually smells like Aventus did a few years ago - and has similar projection and longevity as the "old" Aventus.

I saw a few folk on here saying exactly that, so while I was very dubious, I gave it a shot, and it is actually more Aventus than Aventus biggrin

Interestingly, I know what you mean about the pineapple note. I first bought a bottle of it 8 years ago and I distinctly remember the pineapple, and especially remember it being the note you could smell days later on your jacket or whatever.

Aventus is definitely less pineapple/fruity now, and does have a slightly different smell.

Still seems to last a long time to me though. I can still smell it quite strongly on clothes the next day or even longer.

I do still have a bottle of Aventus, but to be honest I have moved away from it being a favourite now. Partly because the smell has changed a bit and I don’t rate it as much, and as such I don’t think it’s worth the money any more.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread I also have a bottle of Mont Blanc Explorer which has a very similar smell to Aventus for way less money.

I would go so far as to say I now prefer the smell of Explorer to Aventus, and at £50 instead of £195, it’s a bargain.

Funnily enough, I was close to ordering Explorer today on eBay, if anybody is interested, eBay are doing a 20% off offer on it, at £38 ish pounds for 100ml, it could be a bargain but I’ve just given up on my hunt for that original Aventus Scent, it can be a distant memory like an ex girlfriend that I really loved hehe

I bought a supposed Copycat called Club De Nuit Intense which does smell like it but not strong enough, I don’t understand why Creed would just water down their best seller then charge more for it!

I use Mont Blanc Legend most of the time , it smells nice and is cheap I’m not into expensive aftershaves, I’ve got a couple of bottles of other stuff from Gucci, Hugo Boss and Diesel and I think the Mont Blanc smells the nicest out of the lot

I have found you can’t really go wrong with any of the Mont Blanc range.

They are great quality for the price.

I have both Explorer and Legend Night and I really rate both of them.

You should get a tester from perfume parlour and see how the clone compares.
