Have you tried Noir de Noir?

Its super strong and lasts a long time.

Only problem now is some years down the line and further through the bottle it develops a BO like smell after a few hours, I wondered what the random whiff I kept getting was until I read another review on it that mentioned it.

I've since got a bottle of Black Orchid which is very similar intensity but has more sweetness and less BO to it. biglaugh

Luckily I actually got the 100ml bottle of Noir de Noir for £75 because the website had listed it wrong at the time!
Have you tried Penhaligon's Terrible Teddy - to me it is literally BO, but it is really popular - It is one of the only scents that actually repulses me.

My Jazz Club 'Refill' arrived today - for anyone interested, it just has a twist cap that locks to keep it fresh and you can just pour it into an atomiser with a funnel. Very flexible.

I've not, but I'll remember to avoid.

Apparently its the black truffle in the Noir de Noir that makes the questionable smell.

"Instead, there is a definite note of sweet saffron with its faintly woody hues and a strong note of black truffle. I’ve cooked with and eaten real black truffles, and its earthiness is profoundly fresh-black-trufflesapparent here. The richness of the black truffle adds heft and meatiness to the rose. It also adds an earthiness that creates a faintly bawdy, sensuous note of body funk to the scent. It is not always apparent and, by the end, it flitters in and out like a ghost. Sometimes, especially in the opening hour, it is stronger and I sniff my arm with a faint trace of concern; I smell a wee bit ripe. At other times, it’s delightfully subtle and just a faint whisper that adds a note of sensuality to the perfume."

Brilliant.

I am permanently scarred with truffle - a friend had some expensive truffle oil he cooked with but it had gone off, I stuck my nose in and had a whiff and wretched - now the smell repulses me, which is a shame as it seems to be drizzled on everything these days.

It is a very first world problem to have!

I suppose if you did overspray Noir de Noir you'd end up as a smellier sommelier!

Anyone tried Le Labo Another 13? It looks like it's overtaking Santa 33 on the hype train.

I ordered a sample.

A successful 'blind buy' for me: Spicebomb Extreme by Viktor & Rolf.

Bought it because it was regularly raved about by reviewers, and the notes seemed like something I would enjoy. I do really like it. It is superb IMO and I understand why it gets the praise it does.

The name is very misleading though, as 'Extreme' would lead you to believe they have amped up the spice from the original (which was very spicy) but it is actually the other way round. They have toned down and smoothed off the spicy elements and added vanilla and tobacco, which makes it way more wearable and mature. Very good longevity as well.

Highly recommended, if you know that Vanilla, Tobacco, Black Pepper, and Lavender are for you.

Still one of my favorites. I use the normal Spice Bomb as an everyday scent along with a few others and often use the Extreme on nights out instead of the much more expensive options I have. Never feel short changed. Lovely stuff.

Yep, big fan of Spicebomb Extreme.

More of a Autumn / Winter scent though, I think.

I tried a V&R Spicebomb sample back in 2018; here's my thoughts from the time:

Years ago Funk said:
V&R Spicebomb - Extreme - This was way too sweet for me, in fact bordering on sickly which is a shame - it's supposed to have notes of tobacco and vanilla (again, which I'm a fan of) but it just didn't work. It's a no from me.
If that was 'toned down' then I dread to think how insane the not-toned-down one is...! hehe

I absolutely agree, or evening wear would be fine. You certainly wouldn't want to wear it on a warm summer day as it just wouldn't sit right.

I have sold off much of my collection and not replaced others as they have run out, and now I'm down to:

All year / Summer / Office:
Mancera - Cedrat Boise EDP
Armaf - Club de Nuit Intense Man EDT
Molton Brown - Tobacco Absolute EDT

Cooler weather / Evenings / Nights:
V&R - Spicebomb Extreme EDP
Moncler - Pour Homme EDP
Sunnamusk - Abid Ambre EDP

Very happy with all those and do wear them all in rotation depending on my mood or what I'm doing that day.

Just goes to show how much were like different things! (Who was the absolute psychopath who liked Floris 'Elite'?? I think it was BrabusMog) hehe

I'm not getting too much of anything from it, and it seems nicely balanced. I put some on this morning at 8am and I'm still getting very pleasant whiffs of pepper, whiffs of vanilla, etc, and I like it.

But yes, I stayed away from the original Spicebomb as apparently that has WAY more spice notes to it, and that vibe just isn't for me.

Good fragrance and as mentioned, mostly suitable for autumn/winter.

Found a half-full sample bottle of The Tragedy Of Lord George in my gym bag as I was packing it there.

So that's what I'm now wearing biggrin

Forgot how much I like it.

Another SpiceBomb fan here. On my third bottle.

I've yet to find the equivalent spring summer fragrance that I don't get bored of.

The latest spice bomb extreme is meant to be very similar to penhaligons Cairo.

Not sure if lord has a tester bottle of that kicking about to compare

I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of the Terre D’Hermes variants for the summer.
