Which aftershave do you use?

Ah - never heard of it, so thanks for the warning
While I am on, to what extent is a long-lasting brand just a marketing name for formulas that regularly change? Are any of them exactly the same as 20 years ago?
Drakkar Noir is a great scent but hugely popular in the 90s and so looked down upon today in the same way some look down upon Aqua di Gio, Terre d’Hermes or Aventus. They’re all good but there’s a good chance someone nearby may be wearing the same thing. I find Chanel Platinum Egoiste quite similar if you want to try a more modern take to DN.

I spent a half hour trying sampler sticks at the duty free this week. I didn’t come up with anything that I preferred to my staples of Creed Green Mountain Tweed and Aventus. Am I not trying hard enough? I thought Tom Ford but nothing really took my fancy. If I were to seek out one top notch scent to match my two Creed staples, what should I be trying?
If you're a fan of Creed I'd recommend trying Himalaya and Bois du Portugal as well - they're two of my favourite Creeds, along with Green Irish Tweed and Original Santal. Both Himalaya and BdP are quite vibrant scents, I'd say they both have a little more oomph than GIT. Himalaya is fresh and crisp, BdP is more woody (unsurprisingly) and citrus-based. It's an interesting fragrance. If you want other recommendations it'd be good to know what sort of scents you normally prefer, eg. woody, ouds, fougere, citrusy, ozonic/aquatic etc.

By the way, the reason I ask about scents changing over time is that many moons ago I used to wear Vetiver de Puig (pronounced pooch, source of family jokes). It was discontinued around 10 years ago. I’ve seen some “discontinued” supplies (boxed) in Spain, so wondering whether it is likely to be very different from what I remember from 10 years before that. Also whether it is likely to have deteriorated when stored unopened and boxed for several years. (Not looking for recommendations for other vetivers to try btw)

Terre d’Hermes is popular but no where near as tainted as the ones you mentioned. I find Chanel Platinum Egoiste quite similar if you want to try a more modern take to DN.

Reading the comments on Spice Bomb above being an Autumn/Winter fragrance what would we think is a good summer one ?
It's going to take alot to stop me reaching for Virgin Island Water once we get a nice evening. I have only been using it for 9 years, why break a good habit?

I recently discovered Frederic Malle’s Geranium pour Monsieur which is a great summer fragrance and one I’ve not found anything similar to. Think of a fresh minty geranium.
I’d also recommend trying a sample of Tauer’s L’air du Desert Marocain. Sweet, powdery, spicy and completely unique. Great for warm summer nights.

I have come to the realisation, that weirdly, I don't like many of the big name, mass-appealing, versatile fragrances.
Over the last 12 months or so, I have tried:
Bleu de Chanel
Sauvage
Ralph's Club
YSL Y
Prada Luna Rossa Ocean
Acqua Di Gio Profondo
All designed to be universal crowd-pleasers, compliment getters, for wearing in all occasions, loved by all, hated by no one, raved about by reviewers, and so on.
I honestly didn't like any of them. I really didn't. To my nose, Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage just smelled horribly metallic, Ralph's Club,YSL Y, and Prada Ocean just all smelled soapy, cloying and very generic like they could be anything, and Profondo smelled sour to me.
Really strange, but it just shows how different everyones sense of smell is. Or maybe mine got broken and never recovered after Covid

Well I for one am glad, I really like the Profondo! Can’t get on with the Floris Santal though, nice as it is not really for me. Over the last 12 months or so, I have tried:

I am wearing Bleu today and do enjoy it but it doesn’t perform that well on me. YSL Y EDP seems to be very popular but it got to the point I couldn’t even really detect it on me at all.
Again maybe covid caused it, I know quite a few people who are convinced things don’t smell or taste the same to them anymore.

This may be anathema to the thread, but I can I ask advice on something that doesn't smell?
I'd be grateful for advice on unperfumed antipersperant deodorants people have found to avoid mingling aftershave with less sophisticated pit stuff. Open to gel or sprays.

Does anyone know how much a full bottle of 50ml from perfume vintage weighs or have a full one that they can weigh for me please.
Thanks
I’d say add 25g and that’s about right. Is it for customs? Thanks
Neroli + Splendiferous, both around 174/5g
Ive asked PV direct for the weights of an empty or full bottle so just waiting on them to come back to me. Of course i could put it into an atomiser but dont really want to 'distill' it
Edit - does anyone remember what the 'clone' of Pen's Lord George is, i remember posting it once but cant find it now. Cant remember if it came from PV or was from a brand and not Essence Vault (and the like) but might be wrong on this

Thanks but not for customs, trying to work out how much is left in each bottle before putting them on ebay (or swaps on here unless it gets me banned - ph seems to be hot/cold on these things sometimes)

I have sold several on eBay this year, just picture clearly and tell the buyer to make their own judgement. I usually say "approximately 50-60ml of a 100ml bottle remains but please use the photographs to make your own judgement".Neroli + Splendiferous, both around 174/5g

Re Lord George (which I absolutely love), the splendiferous you have posted looks like it has similar notes on Fragrantica...

Fair enough, i guess im just being anal/bored and trying to figure it out and then price it per ml if that makes sense.Re Lord George (which I absolutely love), the splendiferous you have posted looks like it has similar notes on Fragrantica...
To my nose, LG and Splend are not the same but then to my nose, i can never smell the vanille(a) in Tom Fords Tobacco and Vanille and only smell the tobacco. Yet ive got a friend who can only smell the Vanille in it and not the tobacco
