Didn't have any trees where we lived. Or an estate.

There was a girl called Jackie who worked in the breakers yard you could get bits from though.

There is a bloke at the local builders merchants you could get bits off of too, he has a false leg and teeth.

Chap I know has a false leg. Lost it on an oil rig.

You'd think a one legged chef would be more careful, but there you go...

Drove to the auction today with Old Peter. He's a bachelor of pension age who likes to help out occasionally. He lives in digs and is at war with his landlady who thinks he takes advantage of them.

"We'll, I suppose I have got three cars. I'm selling one though."
He paused and then added.
"And four tractors. I had one when I moved in but bought three more. Classics, not modern."
There was another pause.
"And two stationary engines. I take them to shows."
There was yet another pause.
"And a lorry. It's a Crossley. It's very rare. I've been told it's the only one like it."

The woman is a saint if I'm any judge.

I can't say I've ever lost either of my legs more than once...

In trivial news, I have an engineering degree now. A first class one, as it happens.

My 'bag for life' has developed a hole. My lunchtime sandwich was poking through. I've only had the bag 3 months! Whose life are they basing it on?
Can I sue for misrepresentation? Hmm... maybe I should move this to SP&L?

Edited so as not to fall foul of the Naming & Shaming policy.

There was a bloke in Aldi last night whose 'bag for life' had the same problem and started leaking. They made a quick exit.

Horrible.

Was it his sandwich too or was it too difficult to tell?

She tried to make it look like a sandwich, put it that way.

Congratulations, Alex!

Have you thought about specialising? Aeronautics? Prosthetics? Pinball machines?

Anyhow, this Old Peter business Dicky. Where on earth is the chap living? On an old airfield somewhere?

I wouldn't worry too much about that old chap.

I can normally bugger up about 9/5ths of a barbeque grumpy

Thanks Dicky and others.

I'm going to hopefully do an MSc in Biomedical Engineering and then work in prosthetics R&D. That's the dream anyway biggrin

Well done sunshine.

Mate, I can't tell you how cuffed I am. For you to be able to turn something so life-changingly awful into a force for good is off-the-scale admirable.
