I haven't yet had to put my heating on as we move more into autumn. I live in a top floor flat in London so it's slightly warmer than other types of buildings and the London location helps too. Ideally I like to be able to get through October without putting the heating on at all but with the single figure nightly temperatures forecast for the next week, I'm not sure if that will be possible.

I've never understood this turning it off and on. Mine stays on all year. If it gets cold it comes on. Its got cold so, yes, the heating is on smile

Yes, mine is currently on. Though my house is on its own and fairly open so does tend to get cold.

But why the time limit? Isn't that why we work? So we can be comfortable. If it's cold, don't be a fanny and just put the heating on!

We are at the preliminary stage- arguing over whether the back door can be left open. So the heating will probably be on soon.

I was still sitting around in shorts with it off but my lodger thinks anything under 28 degrees is cold so i've had to put it on.

It won't make too much difference to my bill if I turn it on in October so for me it's more of a little challenge and psychological thing. I'm not too keen to acknowledge summer is over and that we're well on our way to winter.

The UFH on the ground floor never gets turned off but hasn't come on yet so it can't be cold. The first floor heating is on and since about last Thursday has kicked in most mornings. TBH, if it wasn't for moaning females the CH would still be off biggrin

Not yet but I got back from Malaga earlier this afternoon so it will be on later, it's much colder here than it was in Spain last night!

Mine hasn't been on the last three years, so definitely not. I can't stand it, I'd rather see my breath indoors than put the heating on.

I usually just check it still works and once I feel the rads warm up it goes off again for another year.

Ours has been on for the last 24 hours as we have just returned from holiday and the 6 loads of washing needs drying. The car (our living space for two weeks touring) managed a proper clean between the showers and is now back in the garage.

But in Yorkshire normal rules return tomorrow. Hell - its still hot - shorts weather ! (But I do cycle to work 47/47 weeks - not yet time for leggings).

Sounds just like my exwife- her central heating has not been on for the last 15 years, except for test purposes.

No need to bother for a while yet, probably about another 3 weeks before it starts to get any cooler.

The chair I usually sit in at home is next to the rad, it makes me feel sick when the heating is on. I'm not worried about my fuel bills when I move out as I think i'd be just like you.
