Mines on now. 18 degrees is apparently bloody freezing according to my wife. She made the point last night by wandering round the house with a Wooly hat and fleece on.

Ours has been on a few times. Never really goes above 19 though as I'm not a big fan of the heat produced by the radiators.

Log burner has been on probably 7-8 times though, love the heat from it. Will try to just have that on in the evenings and heating in the morning

t gives me a sore head and a dry mouth.

Even when it's freezing outside it rarely goes below 11 inside so it's fine for me.
11... ELEVEN!!!!! Bloody hell chap, have you got ice-water for blood?

Our's has come on once so far this year (it's on thermostat so if it's cold enough it comes on). That being said we did burn through a large carrier bag of assorted wood in the log burner yesterday

Lit the stove last week to run hot water around the radiators. Just to make sure all was fine and flush out any air before buggering off to work for a fortnight. Saves any potential " Arrrrgh the heatings broken" type phonecalls whilst at sea.

4°C this morning when I left the house, so I think it's reasonable that the ground source heat pump has been switched to water + heating mode. Second week it's been that cold on Monday morning.

Tado has kicked in a couple of times in the last week. It's set for 17 degrees in the morning *(up to 9am) and then for 18.5 degrees during the day

Same, our thermostat is set to a high of 19c when we are in the house* all year round. According to the Nest history its been on for 4 hours in total over the last two weeks.

  • I use Smartthings to turn off the heating when we leave the house

I turned mines on at the start of the month, its not been a cold summer up here in central Scotland, but since October its been a bit chilli the odd night.

We try not to because its storage heaters (I know), oh the smell of 6 months months of dead skin burning. So when its borderline, I light a few candles to take the nip out the air and delay the inevitable whilst saying i'm being romantic.

I find though my dehumidifier almost eliminates the need for heating if left on in a closed room. But she cant stand the noise.

Saying that I've a fan still going full pelt at night even when its nippy as I cant stand sleeping in silence or hearing her snore and nothing else.

Heat is on in my apartment, had to scrape the ice from the windows of my car a few days ago..

But the summer and autumn weather in the part of Sweden where I live have been fantastic this year, warm and dry pretty much up until 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, 3 degrees and rain, cold today but dry.

I think I got it from my dad/his mum. Their answer was always another jumper.

My gran used to have one of those electric bar fires. She'd put the light on but not the heat, so it 'felt warmer'. She'd also sometimes sit in the kitchen with the oven on and the door open.

She had central heating.

So another jumper, a light and leave the oven open after you're done cooking and you're sorted. Mind you the last time I spoke to Eon they thought I was diddling the meter. laugh

Same here although we seem to vary between 18 and 20 degrees depending how cold it actually is outside.

Fire will start to be used shortly. just need to get it swept first.

I've never understood this turning it off and on. Mine stays on all year. If it gets cold it comes on. Its got cold so, yes, the heating is on smile
Same. It's set to come if it gets cold enough. I don't mind it kicking in - if there's an issue with it I'd rather know in early October than when it gets properly chilly.
You people do realise that there is a thing that exists called heating without a thermostat??? i.e. you put the heating on and the individual radiators in each room then regulate the heat??? These systems have to either be off or on manually - you can't set them to come on and off by themselves according to temperature in the house.

My wife is the same heating comes on as soon as the weather goes mild. The odd thing is on holiday she wants the villa AC to be set to freezing.

Heating? On my pension?? You're 'avin a larf aintcher???

I'm saving up for a jumper I've seen in the Oxfam shop. cloud9

If it gets really cold in the daytime, I use my pensioner's bus pass to get to town and sit in the council offices until I get thrown out or I can't stand the intense heat any longer. ( It's always roasting hot there. )

I have also found a nice length of bubble wrap in the hedge which will keep me nice and snug at night if the temperature in my hovel drops below zero degrees*.

Ours has started to trip in in the morning, but as it warms up during the day it doesn't come on.

Pisses me off though as both the wife and daughter seem to have this inability to keep the bathroom door shut; there is always a window open in the bathroom, so they whinge that it is cold but the bloody door is wide open SHUT THE BATHROOM DOOR!!

My childhood bedroom (complete with one twin radiator), was an extension on the side of the house, on stilts over the driveway, with a flat roof. I can assure you ice on the inside of the windows is not just a possibility, it was a common occurrence!
Probably why I loath to put the heating on and make sure the family has a jumper on before giving in . . .
