Im obviously a little behind here.

Just seen the thread, two ordered, one for myself one for taz turbo jnr, had a tear in my eye when I was reading the details about them to him. All makes us human I guess.

Well done for sharing clap

These appear to have sold out now, or perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing!

I'm sure 1916 was a difficult year for the wine industry. But you've got to draw the line somewhere with charity.

First batch went quickly, I tried just after the story was shown on the BBC News. Guess the same here. I assume there will be more batches?

Just read Don4L's superb thread and bought one of these as soon as I finished the thread, I had family there, I believe my grandad was but I need to do more research. What a huge loss of life frown

Edit: Yep, South Wales Borderers, he appears to have been at the Somme and Ypres amongst others....Apparently he had shell shock and terrible night mares right up to his death in the early 60's frown

Just ordered 1 each for my sons who are 7 and 9. It was always my intention to take them to visit the Ypres, the Somme, Tynecot Memorial etc. Having a fallen soldier to research and then visit his final resting place will make this an even more poignant trip.

Thanks for the heads up Ray

Just a note to say that these guys really are top notch.

My missus bought me one as part of a birthday gift, ordered it to the wrong address as she was ordering to my dads back in the UK. Didn't realise until nothing turned up a week later. My dads been down to the house it's been confirmed delivered to and no answer, even left a not through the door explaining the situation and still nothing two weeks later, so naturally very disappointed. However, she been emailing them and back and forth, not in a pissy way but just trying to get to the bottom of the matter. Obviously nothing can be done. They've contacted her today to say they've sent another one out, this time to the correct address, no charge. Having just found this out when I got home from work today, I've promptly been onto their website and donated the £40 it cost's, absolutely no problem doing that for something that is so thought provoking and a cause extremely close to me.

Fantastic people, making a fantastic product for a fantastic cause!

I meant to write about this a few weeks back, I bought one of these and wore it to a party at my mates house who happens to have his own business in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham and knows the guy who makes them.

Basically he goes over to France, knocks on farmers doors asking them for any used shells they have dug up, they are more than happy to hand them over as it costs them to dispose of them otherwise. Then he just drives home with a boot full of used ordnance! (Apparently he has paperwork to allow him to do this).

It was his idea to make these poppies and he put the idea to the RBL.

Anyway my mate has put in a quote to help with manufacturing them next year as they can't cope with demand. Also next years will also incorporate a leaf, coloured with green enamel mixed with wood taken from the British trench supports.
