I have a few pairs, mainly adidas, but also have Converse, Gola, Walsh, Brooks, New balance and possibly others. In total, i would guess on 30 pairs ish.
Mainly adidas and Nike for me, but do have a few asics and converse. NB is the anomaly for me, I really like them but either can't find that perfect pair, or when I do something else is more appealing. Really liked the Yard pack that came out, but got 3 pairs of adidas so couldn't really get another pair or the Mrs really would kill me

here's an odd question.

are empty boxes worth anything ? specifically I have a number of old trainer boxes from the early 80's- all Adidas. They actually store my childhood meccano and lego in, hence I have a number of them.

I'll be honest, collecting trainers and its purpose is beyond me, but we're all a little odd and have our quirks !

Probably a bit of a derail, but I know somebody who used to find tatty old trainers and list them on ebay for a very specialist market. Financially, he did very, very well out of it.

Seems it is still "a thing" - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_tr...

Yeah.

Big pic is from 2012 and the others are just a couple of notable things I've added recently haha. I have a decent collection of dress shoes too, I just love the amount of materials and palettes etc you can put into a sneaker smile

I'm very much a jeans and trainers/sneakers kind of person, I don't have a vast collection, couple of pairs of DC 'Heathrows' (one red and a blue & gold pair), a pair of black Vans low tops and a pair no no brand canvas slip ons that don't get worn much.

I do have my bright red Simpson racing boots that I bought at the beginning of last year but I only really wear them for flying after I quit drag racing as they give good feel on the rudder pedals smile

I only wear shoes to work or for formal occasions, boots come out when the weather is bad or extra ankle support is needed.

I sold an old pair of gym trainers (that I would have otherwise binned) on eBay for a tenner, different strokes for different folks and all that.

Old vintage trainers are a massive market. Not one for me personally as I wear mine

I reckon the boxes could be worth something, maybe... can't hurt sticking them on eBay...

Completely agree. I go through phases though, sometimes things like dunks and Air Force 1, sometimes things like adidas 'terrace' shoes, or like at the minute Boost and Air Max (fancy some flyknit racers but not managed to find a colour I want available)

I do a bit of flipping on ebay/depop occasionally. Usually checking auctions on ebay during my lunch break, mad what pairs you can pick up cheaply if you keep an eye out for whats ending soon.

Don't make a great deal off it but I enjoy the buying and selling.

Yes they are! Those old boxes will probably do some collector good. The only issue is that I've no idea how you'd sell them on eBa. It might actually be worth contacting a few names from the Instagram sphere who collect Adidas and seeing what they'd offer.

Original '80s boxes don't come up all that often so I'd go for it.

They're quite pink, I got the 93/17s and they're more pink than I thought they were going to be. Still wearable with black jeans or joggers

Shouldn't this be merged with the "Council" thread?

Really like them, how is the Boost sole on them? I always felt they were flimsy on the NMD (Especially with the hype / price)

EDIT:

QUick google has people listing them at $250... i presume new they were around the $120-$150 range?
(Sorry for $ values, I live in the US)

What happened to Adidas Marathon 80s and 84s? They were selling them up to a couple of years ago, then vanished. I had about seven pairs.

Tbh I quickly whipped them out of the box and tried them on, then had to get off to work. Paid £130 for them over here
