At 14:37 I get an email which contains.

Sorry it took so long to get my passport scanned in, firstly I couldn't find it, then the printer wouldn't scan; it kept complaining about no device found; I had to get the young guy next door to come and help me after his school; he was able to reload some drivers or something he says; anyway it was able to scan again so you should find attached to this email my passport.
Having just retired, this money will come in very handy - do you know when I should expect it ?

Neither attempt got past a few days of baiting though.
I did the same with a young lady from an African Refugee camp.

I have just gotten an information that your consignment from Afghanistan has safely arrived Talavera la Real Airport Spain, But I would be driving to Badajoz for collection , I will write you a comprehensive letter once I have the box with me OK.
However I do not allow consignment to stay long in my office due to security purposes, it may not be that easy for me to travel to your country this moment considering the official issues and responsibilities facing me BUT i will see what can be done.
NOTE: There are two options of receiving your package which are:
(A) If You will come to Spain and pick the package in person?
(B) If You will want me to delivery it to you Because the transportation of the packages to your address have been fully paid, if so have i mind that i will need some money to fix some paper works (Clearing and Stamping of the box to permit me to move out the box) but till i get there then i will tell you how much because i need to discuss with them and other involvements for the successful delivering of your package. Let me know the nearest international airport to your location.
Feel free reply as soon as possible for onward discussions on the procedures involved ,I will hold on for your immediate contact.

Firstly thanks for your email. I was expecting delivery of the box here and had stayed in specially in the hope that you hadn't used Yodel to deliver it.
If my box is there in Badajoz, that's perfect we have a villa at Merida (not that far away) so we can collect the box in person. We normally fly out on a Saturday morning and arrive there late afternoon. We can then arrange to collect the box on the Monday morning if that suits.
Do let me know and I'll sort out some flights for Saturday.

Thanks David for the confirmation of the box arriving but your previous email confirmed the same.
As I said I've got a place near by so we can go and collect the box together; in fact my wife is there currently with her sister enjoying a couple of weeks in the Spring. I can arrange for her to meet you later on this week and clear the payments on the box if that makes sense and kill two birds with one stone so to say.

Just to let you know I still don't have the box. It's in Spain seemingly as I've been contacted by a Diplomat David who's let me know that the box has arrived.
I'm keen to get this box and we might even be able to get it earlier as it's arrived at an airport not that far away from where my wife and I have a villa. My wife and her sister are currently there (about 15 miles away).
I do have one small problem - the diplomat is looking for payment for duties and as I mentioned previously I've not long retired so have very little money which is why I was looking to sell my car in the first place. I realise that my money problems will go away once I get hold of your box but for the time being were going to be short of being able to stump up the duty costs that the diplomat is looking for (couple of thousand Euros).
Without the car being sold I don't have enough money in the bank to cover that sort of expense; obviously once the box is out I can pay you back from my portion of the cash but scrambling about the money that we do have we're still about £200 short of what we need.

Please i beg you try your best make sure you secure the box/money once you have it i would send you the code combination pin to unlock it , take out money from the box and offset the bill in which it has cost you, honestly am very sorry I never meant to make you run any expenses I have written to the diplomat pleading to help us , But he gave me his words that he must deliver that we should send the required fees so that he can pay for them to allow him have the box .
Please Steve, you are my last for hope , I urge you go look for the money even if you can borrow from your friends or relatives and send to the diplomat. Please do these for me Brother........I would hope to hear from you.
