Pierce Brosnan. Effortlessly cool as Bond. And now sporting a kick ass beard.

Bruce Dickinson, a middle aged commercial pilot whos hobby is singing in a band
This would my recommendation; a very cool individual.
Expelled from Oundle for pissing in the headmaster's dinner (he'd been bullied throughout his time there).
Lead singer of Iron Maiden, a band who have sold over 90 million albums.
747 pilot who flies the band on their round the world tours.
Published author.
Olympic level fencer once ranked 7th in GB.
He recently bought a Fokker tri-plane and does WW1 battle re-enactments in the air.
Named a Polymath by Intelligent Life magazine.
Created an Iron Maiden Beer, Trooper.
His cousin Rob Dickinson founded Singer Automotive who make very cool Porsches.
And what seals it for me is that unlike an awful lot of the suggestions in here, he shuns publicity and the celebrity culture. He was offered a job as a judge on The Voice when it launched, but turned it down saying "That show sounds so crap and demeaning to everyone involved, I took great delight in turning the BBC down."

Nobody with the surname Dickinson can ever be cool.

Broadsword calling Danny Boy...

He was pretty cool. I remember him more for the BBC Lord of The Rings radio adaptation more than Dads Army.
On a comedy side note, I had a referral the other day to an NHS specialist called Jane Le Mesurier; I managed to resist passing comment as I'm sure she gets asked about her name all the time.

The other John Le Mesurier, who was involved in the Jeremy Thorpe murder caper, was not cool.

Oh yes, how could I have overlooked him. Married to Hattie Jacques and also filmed quite a bit alongside Tony Hancock. Still best known for Dad's Army despite being in dozens of films throughout his life.

I've met him a couple of times, he seems like a decent chap, despite it all. Maiden are my absolute favourite band too - I've seen them over a dozen times all over the world, sadly only Manchester and Aberdeen on this tour frown

Also cool.

It's all just very "easy" for him, isn't it? Maybe that sounds weird, but he looks and sounds like he could just glide through any meeting, social situation or conversation with grace and ease, very suave indeed yes

Easy. Yeah, that sums him up well.

I saw him on a chat show ages ago. All the younger Game of Thrones hunks were already on but he came on last, in an absolutely immaculately tailored suit, towering above all the younger short arses, and they might not as well have been there. His class, elegance and demeanour just blew them off the screen. Such presence. He wasn't even trying. As you say, easy. You've either got it or you haven't... And he's got it! Truly a lesson in star quality and sartorial elegance.

Very much my favourite band too, have been for the last 22 years since I picked up a few of their albums at a car boot sale. I've seen them a few times, Oberhausen's the furthest I've been to see them but Twickenham was a cracking venue.
He comes across very well and seems decent. A mate of mine knows Dave Murray fairly well and says much the same about him too.
