The person (alleged to be) responsible for such a crime needs to spend a long time in prison, having been chemically castrated.
Whats wrong with a pair of house bricks?
Too painful if you get your thumbs between them!

IF I was the sort of nasty horrible bd to be doing things I might have to suddenly disappear to avoid arrest for, I'd have a couple of small bags of the essentials (a few days of different outfits, toiletries etc.) and as much cash as possible (£10k+++, probably mostly in Euros as they can be spent across almost an entire continent without standing out) hidden in the house ready to go. That should see you alright for a month or so, dart to Europe and stay away from the internet and mobiles, zero contact with anyone I know would be hardest especially if I knew I had access to more support from anyone.

I already keep a bag with a couple of days clean clothes and essentials in the car incase I have to rush off somewhere (not for anything dodgy, I mean so if any of my family got rushed to hospital whilst I was working or anything like that I'd not be sitting around in uniform all day/night and could at least brush my teeth as I've been caught out like that before when my baby was rushed in and I was working. )

You need serious resources and discipline to properly disappear and even then you'll be looking over your shoulder constantly, I don't think I could do it for long, it must be easier just to talk to the police and take your chances doing a bit of bird (although I don't believe anyone in for an acid attack gets an easy life inside.) or hoping for some procedural error that gets you off. Trying to disappear doesn't exactly help your case and means your chances of bail go from slim to zero plus makes you look guilty as hell.

There's the flaw in an otherwise good plan: how much cash can you realistically withdraw in one hit without attracting attention? I have got enough savings to disappear for a while if I want to, but have got a (self-imposed) limit of £500/day on my current account for ATM withdrawals, just in case my wallet were ever to go AWOL. Isn't there a limit (£4K-ish) above which any transaction flags up for checking under money laundering regs? Either way, getting your hands on a lot of hard cash without anyone noticing (unless kept in a personal safe/under the proverbial mattress) isn't as easy as it might sound.

So, with limited funds, it becomes a tad more difficult than it might sound.
If you were the dodgy type, I would imagine you would have easily transportable items of high value that can be sold anywhere such as a few very expensive watches. Much easier than strapping money to your body when going through an airport scan I would imagine.

I missed Hunted - is it worth watching or too contrived?

I see that two of the three wanted chose N London as their hideout.....hardly Copacabana or Marbella

I guess having Mum and Dad bailed will see if they can help lead the team to the last of the knobheads.
It's entertainment. They clearly don't have full acces to police/government/state surveillance powers so its contrived. They also place restrictions on the contestants that rig it a bit - e.g max amount of money withdrawn, must remain mobile (I.e no sitting it out in a bothy) and several others I can't remember now I've had two beers.

Nonetheless - it's interesting to see how paranioa takes hold in the runners and of course the various tactics they employ.

Wouldn't it be a lot more fun and less painful to just feed yourself slowly into a wood chipper?

Ecuador embassy obviously!

Seriously, though, what matters if you do withdraw ten or twenty £k in cash? Okay it arouses suspicions but it still doesn't help them find you and people do this all the time if buying a car, say. Committing the crime also raises a few eyebrows but by then you're off!

His crew have obviously shacked him up somewhere, like a house, farm, office or warehouse. Case is too high-profile to spirit him away to Costa del Crime. He will be caught in a few days.
I guess he didn't read this forum, and this post was probably spot on.

I wouldn't be too sad if the bag of sugar in the prison gets left near the kettle when he's got his back turned.

I would hide in my loft. Who would look there? I have an iPad, wifi and access to food and water.

I'd probably try to stow away on a truck heading to France, I doubt they look as hard at vehicles going that way. If you've got a bit of cash it's not hard to get a train to the Alps. It's off-season at the moment so there's endless cheap places to lay your head, even when the summer season starts in late June it's still under subscribed compared to winter and there's enough cash-in-hand seasonal work to keep you fed.

If you can ride a mountain bike to an okay level it's fairly easy to flit between a couple of resorts on the French / Swiss border far from the nearest road which should keep you one step ahead of Le Old Bill till the heat is off.

Well, it's too cold in the shed and there's someone already living in there, who is currently on the run.

Probably best with gold not cash, easy to move on small amounts of scrap gold as you move across europe, don't think you need ID for small amounts either. Acid guy should be in prison for a good few years thankfully
