I've only heard of Ford and Williams on that list. No idea who the other people even are!

Come again?! Shakira? The one whose boobs you might get confused 'with mountains'?

That's not a pretty thought...

TL/DR : you have got the wrong Shakira.

Full ranty version:

Crikey. You Millennials really struggle with the idea that there was ever a time before your time, doncha? I have already dealt with the same absurd comment made by someone else, many, many pages ago.

I shall try again. Wish me luck, I'm going in.

Michael Caine, a famous actor and famous cool guy, who still both acts and cools, married a cool model and sometime actress called Shakira. That was in a decade called the 1970s. It was a cool decade. You can look it up.

Michael and Shakira, who is NOT the other Shakira, met while filming a film called "The Man Who Would Be King". That is a very good film directed by a very good director called John Huston. He was Angelica Huston's dad, among other things, and an awesomely cool and talented bloke, whose daughter was at one time the World's Coolest Woman, and who was for a time half of the World's Coolest Couple. You can Google who the other half was.

The film was based on a very good short story by a very interesting and much less one dimensional man than he is supposed to have been, called Rudyard Kipling. He, you can also Google. When I say "less one dimensional", I do not mean that he was not in One Dimension. By the way, he was not in One Dimension.

I am sorry to be grumpy, but you have the whole of Google available to you. Inform yourselves, dudes! This stuff that we are discussing here isn't even important. It's just pleasant blah and chit chat. There is, I gather, to be an election soon. Look stuff up! Fact check! Get informed! Have a clue! If you cannot get a clue, get half a clue. Bloody hell.

Surely Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci deserve a mention here…

Slight point of order BV... Caine has said in an interview he did back in the (not so cool) '80s that he first laid eyes on Shakira in '71 when she appeared in a coffee commercial he happened to see while visiting a mate's flat in London, he was instantly smitten and mentioned it to his mate who knew her and introduced them soon after.

Cool couple though.

Caine may have seen Shakira in a commercial first, but AFAIK he did not meet her, or at least did not chat her up, until he was filming "The Man Who Would Be King", in which she played the subject of Sean Connery's unwise obsession. Note to those with short attention spans.: NO - NOT THAT SHAKIRA.

They were and are a cool couple. Like many models, she was, in the flesh, even more pulsatingly gorgeous than she was in photos. I found this out one evening in the 80s when I went to see Liaisons Dangereuses at a London theatre (Lindsey Duncan as Merteuil and Alan Rickman as Valmont - they were awesome), and Mr and Mrs Caine came and sat down in the next seats. He was very well dressed, and very polite. She was just exuding fabulousness, but in a very cool way.

I saw Kate Moss being papped while she was having a ciggy outside J Sheekey a few years ago. She is about 97 times hotter in real life than she is in her hottest photo. Sadly, she ruined it by a massive sweary rant at the paps.

More Lindsay Duncan and Alan Rickman, as a cool theatrical couple -

Youth (Les Liaisons Dangereueses by Christopher Hampton after Choderlos de Laclos).
Early middle age (Private Lives by Noel Coward )
Middle middle age (John Gabriel Borkman by Henrik Ibsen)

Rickman did not get to be an old dude.

It is, IIRC, a rule of this thread that Bert and Ernie appear on every page. If not them, Waldorf and Statler.

Hugely talented, dedicated, hard working and very laid back.

Not a hint of 'celebrity' in either of them which makes them cool in my book.
They don't mind being known as "British Sport's Golden Couple" or the publicity their recent wedding created.

Can't we substitute Soovy and Tonker for W&S?
