The builders are finishing off the roof on our extension. Noticed that on one aspect of the roof, they've reused old tiles from the house to partially tile the roof, instead of using new tiles for the whole extension. We've queried this, but have been told it's what's normally done. Is it?

There will be varying opinions and I am sure the old tiles function adequately.

However, personally I think it looks odd

Why do you think it is a problem?

Whilst it looks a bit odd (although I see nothing wrong with it) give it time and you won't notice a difference.

I think it's problem because it looks odd.

I think it looks odd and wouldn't be happy with that, you either use all reclaimed ones to match or all new ones on that face of the roof, not mix and match.

that looks odd.

We had a hip to gable roof extension. The old tiles from the back were re-used on the front and new ones went on the back.

As Muncher.

That's penny pinching.

As above that just looks odd I wouldn't be happy with that it would annoy me every time I looked at it. It's certainly not standard practice to do a third of the roof in old tiles.

That would annoy me. Your the customer tell them your not happy with it. Of course they would want to reuse the old tiles as it saves them money. In my opinion it looks like a botch. Depending on costs I would either want one side old and one side new or all new. My builder knows im a cuny funt when it comes to things looking right and either I would have been specific before hand or he would have asked me.

Sort it out with the builder then.
