For much of the last week or so I've been on a family holiday in Turkey. Not expecting anything remotely PH-worthy to occur, imagine my surprise to run into this in the town we were staying in, Dalyan, in the SW of the country. They overnighted Thursday and left on Friday for the next leg of their tour.

Having had a natter with a few of them it turns out the basic premise is these are all soon to be ADAC / German MOT failures, albeit perfectly operational sheds, that are being donated to Jordan where they have a second life, via an 8000 km rally across mountains, deserts, etc, all self navigated and completing Top Gear style challenges along the way.

Having found the website http://www.allgaeu-orient.de/, it appears its the 12th iteration of this low budget rally for crazy people, organised and sponsored by various German firms and charities.

Anyway, I was surprised and enjoyed meeting these mad folkers. They were certainly having a great time. I kind of knew these things went on but to run into 100 or so German sheds decked out in desert survival gear and some quite impressive (and some less impressive) hand painted liveries, in a Turkish tourist town while on a family holiday was the last thing I expected.

Feel free to stick up anything relevant below!
