It would be nice if one little corner of PH could not turn into the bunch of bigotry that bits of NP&E seem to be turning into.
Car owners forum.Devout materialism, willy-waving & spirituality aren't the most obvious bedfellows.
Don't get me wrong, and as the most learned philosopher, Madonna once said... "we are living in a material world, and I am a material girl" but it would be nice to have separation of church and church and state (church being cars, church being faith/lacktheof and state being the country, naturally)
Just saying....

Agreed.Incredible dedication given the long spring/summer days.
Let at least this one thread be one of support for those observing Ramadan. Best of luck guys.
I'm fine without food and water but I'm finding cigarettes a bit challenging. I've went from smoking 30 a day to just 3 in the evening. At times I get close to losing my patience with some people and their attitudes but I take a deep breath and remember that it's all about self improvement. I can't make other people better but I can make myself better. Maybe by the end of the week I'll try to kick the cigarettes completely.

Is no cigarettes a personal thing or part of Ramadan?
I thought it was about food and drink?
No smoking in Ramadan. Depending on which imam you listen to, some will tell you smoking is haram all the time. But honestly, I'm doing it for myself and my kid as much as anything. I don't want to be old and sick and have to have my kid take care of me or watch me suffer.I thought it was about food and drink?

I reckon that I could do the food part OK but would really struggle with water especially at this time of year. Anyway, good luck to everyone doing it and remember eventually it'll eventually get round to happening in December, it'll be a piece of piss then!
Especially if you're in Scandinavia!fizz47 said:

41deg c here today. I had water and plenty of it. Slept in the car for an hour at lunch with the ac on as well. There seems to be a bloody big canon somewhere near my apartment as well which fires at sunset.

Good luck Sadly I couldn't make it.
It was only yesterday when this thread appeared that I made the connection between 'the big smoke in the Smoke' and the calendar

What a load or nonsense. Starving yourself and rejecting your most basic instinct, especially for religious reasons.
I advise anyone that does it to see a mental health doctor.
And support for this cult given the recent attack In Manchester, shame on you.
I advise you to take a long, hard look at yourself and your disgusting outlook on the world. I advise anyone that does it to see a mental health doctor.
And support for this cult given the recent attack In Manchester, shame on you.
That was my personal view.
Now to put my Manchester hat on. We do not share your view. Islam is not a cult, Daesh is, wind your neck in and do one. Shame on you.
I will respect Islam when Islam respects me, but given it goes against everything I stand for (peace, freedom, tolerance, you know the good things in life) I won't expect it to be anytime soon.
