Hello all,

I've been bashing around on my hybrid for the last nine months to get fit after losing a bit of weight.

I've been hankering after a road bike for a while though as 90% of my riding is on the road.

I had a Specialized Tarmac expert disc as a demo bike from the Specialized store in Newbury a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. £3.5k was a bit rich for me though so went looking at alternatives.
Called in at Pedal On in Tadley as it's near my office and spoke to matt who showed me a Giant TCR and a Trek Emonda SL6 black. Took the Emonda out for a ride and was instantly sold!
I've done a few of my training routes and took a lot of time out of my previous runs meaning I can go further and get fitter.
When I was in Specialized they mentioned about the Ramsbury Sportive. I've never done any events and the furthest I've ever ridden was 54k. This was 65k ish and with 60 odd other riders.

Really happy to say I enjoyed it immensely and am looking now at doing some more and upping the distance. Goal is to get to 60 miles this Summer and long term target some 100 mile plus sportives. Time for training is difficult with work travel and a 9 month old and a 3 year old. I do try to hire a bike when I travel now though.

I'm quite chuffed with fourth in with a time of 2hrs 13mins for 40miles. Gears weren't behaving towards the end jumping all over the place so am heading back to Tadley this week.

No none of the climbs were too taxing to be honest. Biggest one probably Ashbury Hill?

Guy who works in Behind The Bike shed in Andover told me about that hill I think? 25%?

Hills I mostly ride are Conholt, Ham or Combe Gibbet.
