Been looking for a nice 640D for quite some time now and saw this on autotrader

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

A quick search reveals it was on 110K back in April 2017.

I've reported it to autotrader with no avail.

How do people still get away with this sh*t

So its been doing 40K miles per year for the last 2 years and some wise guy has given it a haircut post April 17, back to - conveniently - just about last years MOT mileage.

If you want it taken down why not just text the ebay link to the seller? i'm sure if a few people do it he'll get the idea

Maybe there's been a change of owner or owners circumstances changed so they've hardly used it in the last 11 months.

It wouldn't have been advertised as having 110,000 miles in April it that was the case.

The original ad also stated a full service at 102,000 so the it's blatantly been clocked.

It's also up for £2.2k extra for the extra bonus of being clocked

To Autotrader it's money and every ad drives people to their site.

Probably worth taking screenshots of the ads as proof as it may well disappear - only to reappear later.

A bit odd too, the Autotrader ad says ''Next MOT due 24/08/2017''

That is hardly unique. I'd reckon that about 1/4 of the cars I've looked at on AT and ebay are clocked. You can report them, but I've never seen any action taken.
Perhaps the only recourse is to troll the seller. Phone them and ask why they've clocked it. Rinse and repeat. They might get the message then.

Quoting the registration number could lead potential purchasers here by Google search.

AutoTrader don't give two hoots.
My Dad PX'd my step mums 2001 RAV4 earlier this year to a large Indy dealer in York, it was at 150k, ropey as hell, hadn't been serviced while she had it (5 years +) and no paperwork other than the V5 was handed over, fast forward two weeks it appears on AT from a small/driveway dealer with the usual B/S such as excellent example and FSH!
He reported it to AT but they didn't care.
I trust AT sellers about as much as eBay to be honest.

I watch high mileage sub 3 year stuff go through the block at 1500+ above cap daily, I hate to say it but this is a widespread problem.
Fair do's for noting it and reporting it.

Given that so many 'mileage correction' ads are placed in magazines, newspapers and online the practice must be rife.

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why do people even consider looking at vehicles advertised by a "trade seller" with JUST a mobile number to contact them by. Straight away alarm bells should ring that there is probably something very 'ooky about the seller.

Autotrader is a slippery little publication that is ONLY interested in the money that drives it. It's a pity that it can't be prosecuted for publishing ads that people report to it as not genuine.

Ebay isn't much better. I have complained by letter, email, and even rung it's head office in America - at least twice each. They still haven't responded AT ALL to my complaint.

Money drives everything.
