The Battle of Briton was a close run thing and and if we lost the Battle of Briton we would have lost the way/been invaded.
It's the Battle of Britain, and the UK was engaged in a struggle for survival, not trying to find the beach.
It was a close run thing. It's true that it's unlikely there would have been a successful invasion even if the UK had lost, but that wasn't clear at the time.
It was a lot closer than our propaganda would have had you believe. When Hermann Goering was being questioned by Capt Eric (Winkle) Brown after VE day, his opinion was that it had been a draw.

Vaccines cause autism.

I got embroiled in a Facebook argument with 3 women who were insistent that that vaccines were dangerous.

I pointed out that vaccines save around 9 million lives per year - that the WHO reports that Measles vaccines alone have saved 17million lives since the turn of this century, had completely eradicated Smallpox and mostly eradicated diphtheria and Polio.

"Yeah, well I think vaccines have causes more damage and harm than good"

You think! You think? Thankfully science and medicine isn't based on what you think but on decades of empirical evidence scientific study and peer based review. You fking idiotic, science denying, ill educated moron.

Anyway - i got unfriended, which is probably a good thing.

Your ex-Facebook friends' views on vaccines are on a par with Dianne Abbott's assessment of Chairman Mao!

Those are two slightly different points! You haven't explained that vaccines don't cause autism...

We probably wouldn't have been invaded - the Germans lacked dedicated landing craft and even without air cover the Royal Navy would have inflicted heavy losses on the invasion fleet. But we would have almost certainly sued for peace, which would have meant more German troops to invade the Soviet Union, a likely victory there and no US intervention.

Agreed banghead

Either that, or I'm in the wrong business. If you can afford to give away £1m of motorhomes every month then I might have to consider a career change.

  • Share if you support our troops
  • Share if you've lost someone to cancer
  • Share if you think AIDS is a bad
  • Share if you don't like war
  • Share if you don't like the idea of someone smearing a bit of poo in your eye
Fact: If anyone or anything asks you to share something, it's horsesh*t. There are literally no exceptions to this.

Most commercial airlines use re-treads, IIRC. Fuel doesn't have fire suppressant (it was tested but failed??)
