Congratulation Moose
Thank you. And to you too, sir.

Sounds like a bit scary for you for a while. I hope mum recovers well and quickly smile

Congrats. That was quick. clap
Indeed. 4cm, 8cm, all the way very quickly. Push push push and done. Lol. Couldn’t have been easier!!

Food at the hospital sucks so we ordered in. First thing on the list was Outback Steakhouse to which my wife’s reaction was “ohhh, haven’t had steak for a while.”. So we got steak. And ate it with our fingers as you can’t cut steak with the plastic cutlery they give you now due to coronavirus!!

Congrats smile

Our second lad arrived in similar fashion. Wife was 15 days short of due date and rang me at work late morning saying she had stomach ache. Called the hospital, they advised if it got regular then come in. 2pm she calls me again and says "probably just Braxton Hicks but let's go in to be on the safe side." I get home from work and find her doubled over the sofa, huffing away. "Braxton hicks my arse, get in the car" I said. We got together and arrived at the hospital about 4.15pm. Got into a room but took until about 5.20 to get her examined. 6cm. "Buzz us when your waters..." Waters broke. 20 minutes later Callum arrived. Umbilical cord was wrapped round his neck three times! eek

To this day we're both sure we heard the midwife say "it's a girl", she should have gone to Specsavers...

Anyone had experience with over protective dogs?

Our German Shepherd has been getting steadily more protective over the last 3 months. He will follow anyone has the baby wherever they go if it's not either of us but more recently he's started growling and occasionally barking at people that go near him.

Today we had relatives over and one went to pick the baby up out of his chair and the dog shot up to stand inbetween them and I did think for the first time in his life he might have bitten someone.

I'm not overly concerned, the dog being protective isn't a bad thing in itself but don't want him to get too overbearing and obviously don't want him to bite a goody.

Has anyone had to tame an over eager pet?

Assuming his usual position

My dog is very territorial when the baby is around too. Havn't managed to fix it. Has so far proved harmless, but am interested too in any tips.

Our retriever is the opposite. Doesn't hang around in the same room when the wee man is there.. frown

yesterday was the first time gran and grandad got to be up close/ hold codie since march and it went ok. she was fine with them on the floor playing, but after an hour or so we let gran hold her on her lap and she lasted about 2mins before she cried. the first interactions with other adult humans in months went better than expected, just need to keep it up so she doesn’t turn into a weirdo!

we then started thinking and since mid march, she has only been held by 2 different nurses getting her 12 + 16wk injections. what a bizarre few months for the little one!

Is such a strange situation isn’t it. Our little one is 4 weeks old now and only me and the Mrs have held her since the midwife. Strongly considering breaking guidelines to let grandparents have a cuddle have to admit.

We too are at 4 weeks and grandparents are all over 70 and we and they have still said no to cuddles as there is still a risk from us to them. I don't think I could live with them giving it to our boy or vice- versa

All grandparents are under 70 but we’re of the same opinion atm however I’m starting to consider allowing them given how low the rates are and the fact they have pretty much isolated anyway barring odd trips to the shops

Any thoughts on reusable nappies for a 1 year old? Not too keen myself but need to look into it. Any horror stories ?

We've used them since ours was born up to 11 months. Found babbaboo nappies the best. They absorb a lot and seem pretty comfortable for my daughter.

My partner and newborn son were released from hospital finally yesterday.

Hard work not being able to see them once they were moved from HDU last Friday, onto a maternity ward but they’re both home, semi fit and we’ll.

Partner is on medication for several after effect from the preeclampsia and will be for a few weeks, looks like it may have damaged her liver but the medical team looking after her and our boy were amazing.

Baby is doing really well, he was nearly 5 wks premature but you wouldn’t know it, feeding well, Putting weight on, sleeping well and melting me every time I’m near him

That’s great news Nola that must have been really difficult time for you all. Wishing your partner a speedy recovery

Baby Mk3 has been a pain through out. Not been able to sex on any scans (lucky we didnt want to know anyway) but also breech through out. Today Mrs Mk3 had a midwife appointment and booked in for a C section. I am not good with hospitals or blood so dreading this all. I do feel a little distant from it all as not been to any scans etc due to covid.

Best make sure everything is ready for baby Mk3s imminent arrival - Cant wait to meet "it" though.

Me neither. I found talking to my wife and the anaesthetist helped as it kept me looking away from the action scene.

I nearly passed out with the first (emergency) c-section as a spray of blood caught me (they were rightly in a very serious rush)

7 weeks to go for us, got most of our stuff ready for the arrival, thanks to many on here!

We have got a 4d scan booked in privately as I still haven’t been able to be present for any scan past 12 weeks, at £99 including printed pictures and a video it made sense.

Has anyone here got experience of nursing chairs? My other half is keen to get one but so many options so if anyone has one they can suggest?
