I sure hope so re the cluster feeding part.

Yes - you are definitely right. Mother in Law seems to think she knows everything, having had 3 children, my mum thinks similar, having had 4 children. But they also both regularly say "well the advice I was given for you is different to what I was told for your brother/sister" and then things like "You should do this, it always worked on you! But it never worked on your sister/brother..." AARGH FFS STOP GIVING US ADVICE AND OPINION AS FACT!!
There are some truths...

All babies are different.
They haven't read the books.
Grandparents forget over time.
Grandparents weren't necessarily right the first time.
If they are fed, hydrated and cared for then you are winning. Sleep will come. Probably.

not posted much on here, but have learnt alot from other people's experiences. Amusingly and amazingly this has probably been my single most usefull source for information in this experience so far, with lots of usefull tips and reminders of things that are always forgotten.

So, here you go, Katie Zara D/O XJSJohn, born at 22:15 Singapore time on the 3rd at KK Hospital, Singapore by Caesarian. Maybe she will be part of KKH's next Guinness book of record for another "most babies born in a single year in one hospital"

Thats enough gushing from me!!! wishing all the Dad's still expecting the best of good fortune!

Massive congrats.

My daughter has that same elephant teddy, she loves it.

I have spoken a few times in this thread, it is amazing how time flies, mine is now 18 months old!! and a complete diva!!

We have also recently found out my wife is pregnant, just had the 12 week scan. Bit of a shock this one, as it was natural, never thought it could happen that way for us.

... so I will continue to be a nervous wreck x 2!!

congratulations chap! My daughter has just turned 1 in Jan and I spent last night trying to write a journal of the last year and it's really hard to remember everything. At your daughter's age new things happen almost hourly. I'd write it down as it happens if I could live my time again, as with lack of sleep things are so easy to forget.

Many many congratulations XJSJohn

I write this as the father of a now 4 week old daughter... its a huge learning curve. This time last year, I didn't expect my evenings to be spent washing the component parts of a breast pump and sterilising a bottle and reloading the fridge to make sure the milk goes in the cold bit and not just the door. I didn't even really expect this at this time last month either when I was just days away from parenting.

so, whatever expectations you might have had, forget them.

Just make sure you keep a clean supply of mugs/glasses to ensure your wife has enough tea/water/whatever she drinks... and make sure she actually drinks it, and eats as properly as she can...

Congratulations from me too!

We’re 8.5 weeks in and doing great except for struggling to get enough sleep some nights due to her having colic. Some nights are fine and after three in a row we’ll feel as though we’re getting somewhere, but then we get two crap nights together and my OH returns to zombie mode. It’s frustrating but our daughter is so beautiful and cute that we don’t mind really. Colic is meant to peak in this period too so hopefully things will improve.

Actually this is good advice for all. We just got home and i have just had to pretty much frogmarch SWMBO to bed as she has probably been up for 3 days now on just the occasional catnap. She was still insisting on staying up as she drifted off. Now is just some Daddy / Daughter time (and a well earned beer!)

On the Journal thing, we have actually done an instagram account for her (yes i know .... ) but with family along way away its a good way to keep them updated and its been a fun way for us to do updates and memories too.

fair enough on the instagram thing but i'd be uncertain about that platform being around for as long as you might want to access the photos for, which is forever really.

We were discussing a new car yesterday to deal with Baby. Of course I'm keeping my sports car, said I. I'm sure I'll still use it, I asserted.

Fear not - I bought an S1 Elise as it was more family-friendly than my Caterham (tillets, 6-points and aero). The boy loves being taken to nursery in it.

Also, congrats versus 2016/17. We had the same st time as you.

It’s more of an interim thing, means that when (if) I have the time to go back through it all and make something a bit more permanent, at least I have a timeline with some comments, and I can tie back the origional pictures (as everything is done on the phone these days anyway). The biggie though is keeping the families in touch (as she has rellies all over the place!!!)

My eldest loved (and still does) the "little car" (MX5) for all journeys. Aside from not being able to get the push chair in the back, it's fine.

Sarah is eight weeks gone bounce

The first one for both of us. Me 40, her 39.

She became pregnant at 14 by her first boyfriend, and unfortunately scaring to one of her Fallopian Tubes (I'm no doctor, this is the basic I know) meant conceiving naturally would be very difficult. We were granted a round of IVF, and we've been successful on the first attempt. It must be my super sperm!

Also, 5 frozen eggs/embryos retained, should we want another stab.

Ironically, on the day she was told to test it came back negative, which was a huge upset. Something made her think to take another 3 days later, and 2 blue lines showed. Today we've been for her first scan, and seen little ones heartbeat. It suddenly seems a lot more real than 2 lines on a piece of plastic. Eeeeeek!

And again, thank you. We've really been very lucky for it to work first time. On a side note, CARE in Sheffield, the IVF clinic, have been 100% amazing with us throughout.
