Yes, over a decade ago now.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Chinese_milk_...

However, It's still fresh in their mind as the mainlander still go across to HK (before the Coronavirus quarantine) to buy the western brand as they still don't trust the local stuff. Very lucrative black economy for the mainlander who buy the powder in HK for £30 a tin, and sell it back home for an easy profit due to the huge demand. Before the Coronavirus quarantine, the town's e.g. Shatin , on the HK border is literally filled with day trippers loading up their suitcase with milk powder and all other western goods to be sold back home.

I know someone who used to have a great sideline in shopping boxes and boxes of british branded baby formula back to china. As you say- people in china are still wary of chinese brand baby formula and if they can afford it they import formula from here. the person was a chinese native and living over here, so would do it all via wei chat.

add in some personal shopping of some designer goods and I think it was almost a full time job shipping stuff back to china!

Moose - I had same concerns which was why I chose HiPP along with other reasons

However in uk soy is far lower down the ingredients list that in USA formulas

I don’t think anyone in Uk has anything to worry about

I read a lancer paper on findings of soy in milk and they found the increased oestrogen actually had no affect in boys but showed mild hormonal changes in the girls within the study

Completely true. I was just interested if any other expectant Dads had gone down a similar route.

How long was asbestos used in construction? 100 years? Obviously, I don't know - I'm just interested in the discussion.

Yes - I read that (or something similar too). But I also read an article that stated increased estrogen in males can decrease sperm count and/or increase ED (as well as some other stuff). Also delayed puberty and shorter than expected stature. Obviously generally not good things!

Looking at some stats I briefly found, it looks like in US and Europe, people with sperm counts that are classified as low (under 15 million) increased from around 15% to 21% over the course of about 12 years. Also the number of people who had ultra low or no fertility (0-5 million) increased from 9 to a little over 11.5% over the same period.

Morning gents, I've just had my first night in 6 months away from the wife and daughter. Went to bed at night and woke up at 6 naturally without a single disturbance in the night! Although I missed them it was nice to have an evening to myself and a good night's sleep too!

Hope everyone smashes this week!!!!

P.s. Anyone any good first time mum mothers day gifts bar flowers, etc.

Give her a night away?
Depends on what your baby will let you do, budget, and how far you want to take it.
I made a big deal out of it first time around as she'll never get that day again.

A day of being pampered?

Breakfast in bed.
Nice card from baby.
Run her a bath.
Take baby out for day.
Buy her a bottle of something nice (if she drinks)
Ask her not to do any housework.
Prep dinner, etc

All low cost.

Had a baby on Saturday. Which was pretty much the due date
Waters broke at 8am with no pains, contractions started a little after arrived at hospital 9:30 and baby was out at 10:50 weighing 9pound4. We were home around 2pm.
Was blown away by how quick everything happened completely surreal having a little baby girl now at home.

I am praying for a similar experience.. my partners sister was in labour from friday night until sunday morning..

Her family havent held back on telling us how traumatising this was even knowing my partner is due to pop in 10 weeks. I know my partner is strong and has a high pain threshold i just hope she has a bit of an easier ride..

Not in that particular study (at least, not that I'm aware of). I don't know if it's correlation or causation, however the numbers appear to show that male fertility on the whole is reducing although apparently not in my case - 15 months between our two hehe

At the same time I was concerned that the presence of estrogen-like compounds in males can cause fertility (and potentially other) issues so have been wondering if it's wise to use a soy-based formula given the genistein.

Conversely, my one is raised on soya milk... Its the special baby growing up kind, so its got added nutrients etc. If soy was that bad etc etc.

As for mothers day, dependant on how far along your child is, Last year I made her first mothers day card with my daughter. It resembled nothing like a card as I suck at arty things but she loved it. We did feet into pink paint and into a heart shape, lots of doodlying (giving them a pencil and watching it in their mouth as much as the card...) and sticking random bits on with pritt stick. Cheap and effective (as long as you have the time alone with little one to do it!).

Im due mid May.

I was being booked in for an Elective C Section but have just been informed that all planned sections from next week will be cancelled and only emergency ones will go ahead.

I was really hoping this wouldn't happen. I wouldn't have had a second if I didn't think I could have a section again after last time.

Well we have a first in our house today!

Sickness bug! Literally all of us are out with it. Wife and I are teaming up with who can nap and throw up while looking after the baby who is also throwing up and dropping her guts in a nappy!

Oh i remember those days, recovering by lying on the kitchen floor grimly waiting for the next bout from them or me.

Don't know how we all survived, took a lot of bleaching afterwards to clear that smell up.

She's 7 months, funnily since she's had her throw up stage & a few runny poo's she seems to be back to normal now but the wife on the other hand is in a rough shape bless her so she's gone to bed.

Hopefully it's only a 24 hour thing. I've felt better since the day has gone on thankfully so i must have had a mild version of it.
